Indiana Jones Fans Just Got Some Great News

The Indiana Jones series is the holy grail of action/adventure movies, and it belongs in a museum, or at least every fan's personal collection. As luck would have it, there is no shortage of ways to watch the iconic movie franchise. There are VHS tapes, DVDs, and even streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video have all four films in one place — even though some audiences would like to forget Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

While Disney and Lucasfilm are totally serious about releasing Indiana Jones 5, they need to keep audiences both new and old entertained during the wait. Fortunately, all associated companies are taking a somewhat proactive approach in the meantime. The newly resurrected Lucasfilm Games is developing an Indiana Jones video game in conjunction with Bethesda Zenimax. In addition, Paramount is also joining in to shore up a 4K-shaped hole in the Indiana Jones entertainment library.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray fortune and glory

In 2012, Paramount Home Entertainment transferred Indiana Jones to Blu-ray, but it was an incomplete collection. And because of 4K television, that format is now out of date. Thankfully, the company has evolved with the times.

A Paramount press release (transcript provided by High Def Digest) has revealed, for the first time in recorded history, all four Indiana Jones movies will come to 4K Ultra HD in the Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection. According to the article, each film has been "meticulously remastered from 4K scans of the original negatives." Apparently, if you want to be a good film archeologist, you don't need to get out of the movie library. However, the movies aren't pure upscale re-releases since they feature "remixed" soundtracks that "[stay] true to each film's original creative intent."

Moreover, the collection packs a few extras to up its value. Buyers will also receive free digital copies of the movies, a collectible book with behind-the-scenes pictures, and a seven-hour Blu-ray that chronicles how each film was created, including the magic behind the melting faces from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

You can purchase the Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection starting June 8, 2021, for an undisclosed amount.
