The Ending Of The Mandalorian Chapter 11 Explained

Contains major spoilers for The Mandalorian season 2, episode 3 — "Chapter 11: The Heiress"

In its third episode of The Mandalorian season 2, which arrived on Disney+ at the end of October, got things moving with some big action set pieces, unexpected allies, and even a romantic reunion.

After a bumpy crash-landing on Trask, Mando (Pedro Pascal) and the Child watch as the Frog Lady and her husband are joyfully reunited — a stop along Mando's journey to find any fellow Mandalorians hiding within the city. When a bunch of Quarren sailors trick and trap Mando — leaving the Child in serious peril — a group of Mandalorians rescue him. However, while these allies look and act like the Mandalorians we've come to know over the course of the series, our hero is confused and irritated when all three remove their helmets. They soon reveal themselves to be a part of an entirely different faction of Mandalorians — one that doesn't follow the same rules and customs as our hero Din Djarin.

Ultimately, they ask for Mando's help to overtake an Imperial ship full of weapons, and though he agrees, he still wants help from these modern Mandalorians — particularly their leader, Bo-Katan Kryze, played by Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff — as he prepares to return the Child to any Jedi he can find.

From the significance of Bo-Katan to what might be next for Mando, here's the ending of The Mandalorian chapter 11 explained.

Who is Bo-Katan Kryze, and why is she so important?

If you're familiar with the animated Star Wars series The Clone Wars, you were likely pretty excited to see Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze pop up in person in The Mandalorian. But for those of you who aren't caught up on the series, here's a brief explainer. The title of the episode itself, "The Heiress," references Sackhoff's character, who desires to regain control of the planet of Mandalore and serve as its ruler after the battle is won with the help of her group, which comprises what's left of the Clan Kryze. Not only that, but she's looking for the Darksaber, which currently is in the hands of Imperial big bad Moff Gideon, played by Giancarlo Esposito. The Darksaber itself is a legendary weapon within the Star Wars universe; it was originally created by the first Mandalorian inducted into the Jedi Order a thousand years before A New Hope. Since that time, it's become an important symbol of leadership to those who want to rule the planet and people of Mandalore. So, yeah — it's pretty important that she get that thing back.

Sackhoff, who also lent her voice to Bo-Katan in The Clone Wars, will undoubtedly prove vital throughout the rest of The Mandalorian's second season. Though Mando leaves her and her group to commandeer their new Imperial vessel so he could return to Trask for the Child, it seems inevitable that he'll meet the heir apparent to the Mandalorian throne, despite the fact that he fundamentally disagrees with her worldview. Not only is Mando horrified by the fact that she and her cohorts remove their helmets, but he also doesn't seem to believe that she can retake their home planet. Only time will tell if Bo-Katan's mission will succeed, but one thing is for sure: We haven't seen the last of Bo-Katan.

Will Mando meet Ahsoka Tano soon?

Before Bo Katan and Mando part ways for the time being, she sends him in search of one specific Jedi: Ahsoka Tano.

A seriously important character in The Clone Wars who was voiced by Ashley Eckstein, Ahsoka Tano — from the Togruta race — serves as Anakin Skywalker's Padawan in the beloved animated series. By the end of Clone Wars, though, Ahsoka grows wary of the Jedi Order's true mission when she's incorrectly accused of attacking a Jedi temple. She ultimately strikes out on her own. Meanwhile, many Jedi — including a now-corrupted Anakin — end up believing that Ahsoka has died. However, in Star Wars Rebels – set after the events of Clone Wars, but before A New Hope – Ahsoka returns to fight Darth Vader and survives the duel.

In March of 2020, Eckstein revealed in an Instagram post she was not involved in the production of The Mandalorian, so, unlike Sackhoff, it seems pretty clear she will not play the live-action version of her Clone Wars character. Moreover, it's been widely reported that Rosario Dawson is set to take over the role. It's important to note, however, that her casting still hasn't been officially confirmed as of this writing

We also don't know if Mando and the Child will cross paths with this legendary ex-Jedi in the very next episode of The Mandalorian. However, fans have been waiting quite some time to see Ahsoka in The Mandalorian. Now that Ahsoka is no longer an official part of the Jedi order, will she even really be able to help Mando? Will she accompany them on their adventure?

All three episodes of The Mandalorian's second season are available to stream on Disney+ now, with new episodes arriving each Friday at midnight PST.
