The Walking Dead Season 7 Premiere Title Is An Easter Egg

Contains spoiles for The Walking Dead Season 7

In just a few weeks, we'll finally find out who Negan killed in the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead when the show returns to AMC for Season 7. Although a new preview clip (above) reveals that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) wasn't on the receiving end of Negan's bat, the title of the season premiere (via Comicbook.com) should strike a chord with fans who have been paying attention since the beginning.

AMC announced it's called "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be," and that's a phrase that holds particular significance to Rick. It's what Dr. Edwin Jenner at the Center for Disease Control told him after he was allowed to leave at the end of Season 1. Of course, the building exploded, so it turned out to be a very good thing.

But considering the way things are going for Rick in the preview clip, there's still a chance he isn't out of the clear with Negan, and the official synopsis for the episode hints that he might never be the same. "Last season ended with Rick and our group kneeling helplessly before Negan and his group. What Negan does will haunt those who survive forever."

And all Negan's talk about Rick losing his "right hand man" could be more than just a reference to which character he killed. As Time reports, it sure sounds like Rick will finally have his hand chopped off, which is "the same fate his comic book counterpart endures much earlier at the hand of The Governor."

The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres Oct. 23. Check out what we know about the upcoming season so far.
