Supergirl: Superman Takes Off In Season 2 Trailer

Superman has never been all that far from the CW's Supergirl, but he's front and center in a new trailer for Season 2. The network premiered the first official promo for the upcoming season to feature new footage, and it shows the Kryptonian cousins teaming up to catch a spacecraft plummeting to Earth.

It's our first look at Tyler Hoechlin in action as the Man of Steel, and his timing couldn't be better: Kara (Melissa Benoist) will have to deal with both Mon-El (Chris Wood)–a superhero from Daxam–and the villainous Metallo (Frederick Schmidt).

As Comicbook.com points out, Superman appeared in Season 1, but he was usually obscured by light or shadow. In an interview with the site, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said there's been no rush to introduce Superman on the series. "The show's called Supergirl and it's about Supergirl," he said. "For us, Superman is more of an idea than it is a personification of the character, so we're more than happy to have him backlit."

But he'll definitely come into focus during the first two episodes of Season 2, which premieres Oct. 10. Check out Supergirl's insane history and dumb things no one mentions about her.
