Chris Hemsworth Is Getting Insanely Ripped To Play Hulk Hogan

Chris Hemsworth is an actor. He's also, to put it mildly, jacked. In other words, if we may coin a term, Chris Hemsworth is a jacktor — an actor for whom no small part of his performance is born from working out until he is truly, mind-bogglingly jacked.

Hemsworth has got to look big. After all, he's spent nearly a decade playing Marvel's God of Thunder, Thor. If you're playing a space deity whose primary weapon is a big ol' hammer that only you (usually) are the only being worthy enough to even pick up, you're gonna have to look beefy.

In an interview with GQ, Hemsworth's trainer, Luke Zocchi, confirmed the importance of a very specific fitness regimen — one based more on aesthetic than athleticism — to his career. "It's almost more the look than performance," Zocchi said. "If he looks the part, we've done our job. It's not like he's competing as an athlete."

Of course, Hemsworth will be coming very close to competing as an athlete when he takes on the role of Hulk Hogan for an upcoming Netflix film.

How big can Hemsworth get to become Hulk Hogan?

Zocchi gave GQ a sense of Hemsworth's usual work-out schedule that keeps him looking like Thor. Monday is for building chest strength through chest presses, incline presses, cable flys, and sled pushes. Tuesday is back day, with deadlifts and pull-ups. Wednesday finds him swimming (for a break) and working arms. Thursdays are all lower-body-focused, with squats and lunges. Friday, Hemsworth focuses his work on lateral muscle. Weekends are spent relaxing — we're kidding, he surfs.

Are you exhausted yet? Did reading those words make you pray for the sleep eternal? Well, here's something that will make you collapse through the Earth and potentially fall through the other side — Hemsworth has to do even more to become Hulk Hogan.

In a recent interview with Total Film (via Digital Spy), Hemsworth said preparation to become the Hulkamaniac will be "insanely physical."

"I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor," reveals Hemsworth. And that's not all — in addition to all the physical preparation there's also the mental prep as well. "I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I'm really looking forward to doing."

Of course, being big and being ready to throw down in the ring isn't enough — there's also the look. Hemsowrth is excited for that part too, saying, "I'm going to be blonde, probably balding and with a 'tache."

The untitled Hulk Hogan biopic, coming to Netflix from Joker director Todd Phillips, does not yet have a release date, but we'll have all the news as the project develops.
