First Trailer For Chris Evans' The Red Sea Diving Resort Teases Incredible Rescue Mission

Chris Evans is still trying to save the world, but without his shield this time. For Cap's first post-Marvel adventure, the actor can be seen in the trailer for The Red Sea Diving Resort, an original Netflix drama that will hit the streaming service on July 31.

The intense, action-packed trailer, which is inspired by real rescue missions, shows Evans as a man named Ari Levinson and The Wire's Michael Kenneth Williams as Kabede Bimro. Set in the early 1980s, The Red Sea Diving Resort tells the story of an American-led mission in Ethiopia to smuggle refugees into Israel, which utilizes an abandoned diving resort in Sudan as a cover. Williams' Bimro is a local who teams up with Evans' Levinson — as well as plenty of other big names that make up the U.S. team, including Haley Bennett, Greg Kinnear, Ben Kingsley, Game of Thrones' Michiel Huisman, and more. The film is directed and written by Gideon Raff, an alum of shows like Homeland and the series from which it was adapted, Prisoners of War.

Ever since Evans hung up his shield and made his final appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America, giving Cap the happy ending he deserved in Avengers: Endgame, fans have wondered what his next step might be, and this high-stakes historical drama seems like the perfect fit.

Before Evans' Avengers: Endgame exit, his role in Red Sea was announced back in 2017, getting audiences excited for his next heroic performance, and he's got plenty more projects coming up this year alone. Before 2019 ends, Evans will appear in Rian Johnson's Knives Out alongside huge stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Daniel Craig, Toni Collette, and more.

The Red Sea Diving Resort will premiere to lucky audiences at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival on July 28, but will drop on Netflix on July 31, so plan to settle in on a hot summer night and check out Evans' first after-MCU outing.
