Is Mouch Leaving Chicago Fire? Season 11's Finale Has Fans Worried

Contains spoilers for "Chicago Fire" Season 11, Episode 22

The Season 11 finale of "Chicago Fire" definitely kept fans on the edge of their seats and wondering what the future holds for Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) after his shocking proposal and what's the status of Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide's (Taylor Kinney) marriage, as he continues to be MIA. But while relationship drama always pulls viewers in, the surprising ending concerning OG firefighter Randall "Mouch" McHolland (Christian Stolte) and his failing health is what really has fans worried.

"Sadly, I can see Mouch going. He's not an officer, he doesn't really do much on the scene other than position the ladder truck, other than some in-station antics, he's probably one of the easiest to write-off characters," u/gprimr1 wrote on a Chicago Fire subreddit. While fans may be overreacting, Christian Stolte's Instagram post's caption, "No spoilers, I just want to say it's been an extraordinary 11 years, and I am so very grateful for the experience," isn't making any fans feel calmer.

Unfortunately, after Deadline's report that NBC's renewal of "Chicago Fire" and other network shows comes with cast members appearing in fewer episodes to cut costs, fans are wondering if the Season 11 finale is also a goodbye to Mouch.

Mouch is the heart of the firehouse

Season 11, Episode 22 of "Chicago Fire" had some extremely tense moments, as Firehouse 51 tried to put out a fire at an electrical plant while also dodging bullets from a sniper above them. It appears everyone is safe as they get to work on the fire, only for Mouch to collapse. Unbeknownst to the crew, he was hit by one of the flying bullets, and they quickly got him to a hospital.

All seems well, as Deputy District Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) informs everyone that Mouch is going to make a full recovery. The audience then sees Mouch and Christopher Hermann (David Eigenberg) laughing together. But in the next moment, Mouch is having trouble breathing and passes out, and the scene ends without a resolution.

Mouch's health and whether or not he lives to see next season is at the forefront of the minds of many "Chicago Fire" fans. "IF MOUCH DIES I'M DONE! NOT EVEN BRETTSEY CAN BRING ME BACK!" exclaimed u/hypocrites2020 on a Chicago Fire subreddit. u/Lily_Of_The_Valley10 wrote about Casey's proposal to Brett, saying, "Omg we didn't get to hear her answer." In response, another fan, u/gato-go-meow, bluntly responded, "Honestly, screw that. I'm more concerned about Mouch at this point."

While fans still have hope that Mouch's health scare will end up being a fake-out, many are already bracing for the possible reality of Firehouse 51 losing another beloved character.
