Why Harrison Ford Yelled At Stuntmen On Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny

It should be abundantly clear by now that Harrison Ford is in a movie star category of his own. With iconic franchises like "Indiana Jones" and "Star Wars" under his belt (not to mention the fact that he recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe), there's little Ford can't do — just don't expect him to answer a fandom-related question.

At nearly 80 years old, Ford not only returned to film "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," but he did some of his own stunts as well. One scene in particular features Indy riding a horse on a Manhattan subway platform. After filming the sequence, Ford immediately felt hands all over his legs. "I thought, 'What the f**k?' Like I was being attacked by gropers," he recalled in an interview with Esquire. "I look down and there's three stunt guys there making sure I didn't fall off the stirrup. They said, 'Oh, we were just afraid because we thought, you know, and bah bah bah bah.' And I said, 'Leave me the f**k alone. I'm an old man getting off a horse, and I want it to look like that!'"

The stunt workers trying to keep him safe must not have known about all the horse riding Ford did on "1923," likely making the "Indiana Jones" scene a piece of cake.

Harrison Ford has a reputation for getting hurt during stunts

While we're sure Harrison Ford has had extensive training riding horses, he can't fault the "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" stunt crew for wanting to ensure his safety during the scene. Not only was Ford pushing 80 during filming, but he also has a history of injuring himself on set, causing productions to shut down completely.

During a Reddit AMA, Ford revealed that he tore his ACL while filming the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" scene where Indy is fighting a German mechanic twice his size as a plane circles around them. Decades later, a similar accident occurred on the set of "The Force Awakens," when the hatch of the Millennium Falcon swung down, breaking Ford's leg.

He even got injured while filming "The Dial of Destiny," he revealed during his Esquire interview. While demonstrating how he would punch actor Mads Mikkelsen, he had to adjust midway to avoid hitting someone, tearing a muscle in his right shoulder in the process. Production shut down for two weeks afterward, with Ford sitting out another six. When asked about having a reputation for doing his own stunts, Ford replied, "Yeah, well, I'm also known for shutting movies down because I get hurt, which is not something you want to be known for. But hey, s**t happens."
