How Many Episodes Are In Netflix's FUBAR?

Contains spoilers for "FUBAR"

While the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger has turned up in guest appearances on television from time to time over his illustrious career, his new Netflix series "FUBAR" marks his first lead role in a live-action series. In all, "FUBAR" consists of eight episodes total. The episodes run anywhere from 45 to 59 minutes each, and in total adds up to 425 minutes — about seven hours — of screen time. In order, the episodes are titled, "Take Your Daughter to Work Day," "Stole Train," "Honeyplot," "Armed & Dane-gerous," "Here Today, Gone To-Marrow," "Royally Flushed," "Urine Luck," and "That's It and That's All."

While the series' episodes seem to sometimes mirror the plot of his blockbuster "True Lies," some of the subplots of "FUBAR" feel almost like a documentary to Schwarzenegger. In "FUBAR," which premiered on Netflix on May 25, 2023, Schwarzenegger stars as Luke Brunner, a veteran CIA agent getting ready to retire after 40 years. When Luke is called to complete one last mission and save a fellow CIA agent, he's shocked to discover the agent — only identified to him previously as code name "Panda" — is his adult daughter, Emma (Monica Barbaro).

FUBAR's episode titles all have a specific meaning

While FUBAR is an action-comedy series, there are moments of family drama woven within the episodes. After being rescued, Emma unleashes her anger at Luke over the lies he told his family over the years, resulting in his wife divorcing him 15 years prior. The problem is, Emma is heading down the same path as her dad. She's convinced her family and boyfriend that she's a Peace Corps worker whose job requires her to jet around the world on a moment's notice.

The revelation that Luke and Emma are both CIA agents is just the beginning. Despite their deep-seeded family issues, the duo is forced by the CIA to team up to track down Boro Polonia (Gabriel Luna), a vicious arms dealer who has personal ties to Luke.

The light-heartedness of "FUBAR" is reflected in the titles of each episode, which often involves a play on words. "Take Your Daughter to Work Day" is in reference to Emma being a part of Luke's real job, while "Royally Flushed" refers to a high-stakes poker game Luke's team must participate in to secure vital intel. "Urine Luck," on the other hand, involves the use of urine to save a wounded agent.

All eight episodes of "FUBAR" are streaming on Netflix. If one can't get enough of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the streamer has a docuseries titled "Arnold" dropping this year, and possibly more if the stars align. Based on his "Conan the Barbarian" film, Schwarzenegger has an idea for Netflix's Conan — if it ever happens.
