Love Is Blind S4: Former Star Shayne Backs Irina Despite Her Hateful Comments

Netflix's "Love is Blind" has had plenty of less-than-likable contestants over its four seasons. Most recently, Irina Solomonova and Micah Lussier have been deemed the show's mean girls for their rude behavior, such as their amusement over the other women crying. Also when Irina meets her fiancé, Zack Goytowski, she is clearly not attracted to him (and tells him that he looks like a "cartoon character") — then treats him awfully all around. At one point, she tells Micah that Zack gives her "the ick" every time he tries to touch her. On top of all that, she then went on to flirt with Paul Peden, the fiancé of her friend Micah.

Naturally, fans have not taken well to Irina — to the point that she even posted an apology video to Instagram. In it, she said, "It was very immature and naive of me in a lot of those situations, and I just want to say that Zack, Bliss, Amber, Jackie, Micah, none of those people deserve to be treated the way that I treated them, and I am genuinely so so sorry." Despite the apology, the comments of the video are filled with "Love is Blind" viewers who don't quite buy that she is genuinely sorry.

All of this attention on Irina has led a former "Love is Blind" star, Shayne Jansen from Season 2 — who also had some on-screen moments that didn't make him look great — to come to Irina's defense. In the comments of another post of Irina's, Shayne addressed some of the viewers commenting on Irina's behavior. Shayne wrote, "I know I'll get a ton of backlash for this. But these comments are honestly absolutely disgusting. Yes what she did was horrible ... I don't defend it. But seeing most of these comments the hate some of you have is sad."

Shayne recalled the comments he received for his own behavior and says Irina doesn't deserve all the hate

In his defense of Irina on Instagram, Shayne recalled some of the negative comments that he received for his own behavior on the show. Shayne wrote, "My first four [episodes] of my season I couldn't get out of bed and was horribly depressed from the hate and comments. Just because someone f***** up it's ok to completely ruin their life?" He also noted that, while it's one thing to poke fun, it's another to take negative comments about someone too far.

The reality star then went on to note that he has grown from the person he was while on the show and still has growing to do. He thinks that Irina will also grow from the experience of seeing her behavior on television. He continued, "No one deserves this [I don't care] what you did. She will never grow this way. Take that as you will and I'll take the heat."

The final episode of "Love is Blind" will be released to Netflix on Friday, April 14, and the live reunion — which will very likely feature Irina — will air on the streaming service on Sunday, April 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
