90 Day Fiancé Fans Just Aren't Buying Nicole And Mahmoud's Relationship

"90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way" introduced audiences to Nicole Sherbiny and her husband, Mahmoud El Sherbiny. Nicole initially moved from Los Angeles to Egypt to marry and live with Mahmoud. She would later leave and request a divorce, with the culture shock and difficulty of adapting to Islamic traditions being major driving forces.

The show's ongoing fourth season sees Nicole return to Egypt with hopes that they can work things out. It doesn't take long for things to go awry, as Mahmoud tries controlling Nicole's clothing choices while Nicole becomes increasingly defiant. In an especially heated moment, Nicole and Mahmoud's argument is taken to the streets, where Nicole expresses her amounting frustration with not receiving any freedom. The altercation results in Nicole being left alone at a café, with Mahmoud threatening divorce. Eventually, Mahmoud's brother intervenes and gets the two to make up.

Compromise is a crucial factor in a relationship, and it's clear that Nicole and Mahmoud are never going to see eye-to-eye. Despite this, their relationship apparently remains bulletproof, leaving "90 Day" fans with plenty of questions. On Reddit, u/Traditional-Dig7389 goes as far as to believe that Nicole should receive therapy, noting the inconsistencies in her motives. "Her and Mahmoud's interactions do not seem to have any kind of fondness ... yet she talks about this relationship the same way a teenager speaks about her 3 weeks boyfriend." Others responded to the thread, similarly trying to make sense of the mess before them.

Fans aren't feeling the love between these two

For many viewers, Nicole and Mahmoud El Sherbiny's courtship feels more immature than intimate. Redditor u/Happy-Marsupial-571 views the relationship in such a light, saying, "It's like watching high-schoolers date." The user especially points out Mahmoud's communication issues, saying, "The I don't want to talk about it because we're just going to fight isn't a solution. Problems aren't going to magically go away ... "

Amongst these problems is the cultural barrier that separates Nicole and Mahmoud. Redditor u/coreysgal finds Nicole's dismissal of Mahmoud's culture especially ignorant. "I'm tired of all these people being shocked by cultural differences," they say. "How ignorant are they to not learn anything about where they are going?" Meanwhile, others found Mahmoud to be equally unrealistic in approaching the relationship, with u/womp-womp-rats calling Mahmoud and others like him naïve to assume a Western woman will easily adapt to Egyptian culture.

Their problems are so rampant that some even question if they hold compassion for one another. Redditor u/whatsinaname_1980 questions this, commenting, "She keeps saying that she loves Mahmoud. What does she love about him? She never makes that clear. There's nothing to love there." While their Instagram accounts suggest otherwise, it's clear that the "90 Day Fiancé" couple are in for a disastrous future unless they take their problems seriously.
