The Mandalorian Chapter 22: Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over The Trio Of Cameos

Contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian" Season 3, Episode 6 — "Chapter 22: Guns for Hire"

Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Tim Meadows as Colonel Tuttle, and Mark Hamill returning as a young Luke Skywalker. It's just some of the surprises that "The Mandalorian" has brought fans across its first three seasons. The surprises continue in Season 3, Episode 6, "Chapter 22: Guns for Hire." The episode begins with Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) traveling to Plazir-15 where they meet Captain Bombardier (Jack Black) and his wife The Duchess (Lizzo), who becomes Grogu's new best friend. After hearing about Plazir-15's droid problem, Din and Bo-Katan visit Commissioner Helgait (Christopher Lloyd) who shows the team what they're up against. And fans are losing their minds over the star-studded cameos in this episode.

In the subreddit r/TheMandalorianTV, u/andytheg wrote, "Lizzo and Jack Black, new 'Star Wars' power couple." u/ThrowawayDudettes agreed, calling this a perfect casting decision. Meanwhile, u/Starkiller100 wrote, "Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd in 'Star Wars' ... you really can't predict week to week what's going to happen next in this mad show." When it comes to Jack Black's casting, u/Aurelius_KiNG noted, "It's one of those castings in the 'Star Wars' universe that you can't believe never occurred to you but makes perfect sense when you see it."

And while fans are raving about this trio of guest appearances, they have some ideas about the different directions that these characters and actors could take in the "Star Wars" universe.

The Mandalorian predictions and casting decisions coming from fans

While Christopher Lloyd's Commissioner Helgait helps to set the stage for Din and Bo-Katan's Episode 6 adventure, one redditor believes that Lloyd could take on a different character in the "Star Wars" universe. u/Ebright_Azimuth wrote, "Surely Christopher Lloyd should've played a Sith force ghost and that's beyond debate." Meanwhile, one redditor has a prediction about Jack Black's Captain Bombardier. "I kind of feel like they cast Jack Black because a lot of us would instantly trust him," wrote u/Batman1154. While it was Commissioner Helgait who turned out to be the villain in this episode, there is the possibility of The Duchess and Captain Bombardier crossing paths with Din and Bo-Katan later on, which is something that The Duchess eludes to toward the end of the episode. And it could be an opportunity for the Tenacious D vocalist (Black) and Lizzo to do a duet, which is something that u/Doylie1984 was hoping for.

And while these cameos were a big surprise to fans, some of these celebrities are known for sharing their passion for the "Star Wars" universe. @jackblack shared his rendition of "The Mandalorian" theme song on TikTok while sporting a Boba Fett helmet. And The Duchess' friendship with Grogu during Episode 6 shouldn't come as a surprise to those who follow her on social media. During Halloween 2021, Lizzo took to her Instragram to share her awesome take on Grogu, complete with green body paint and those iconic ears.
