Dove Cameron's TV Career All Started With Shameless

Popular singer, actress, and social media megastar Dove Cameron got her start in the industry working on Showtime's popular series, "Shameless." While most fans were first introduced to the actress via her work on the Disney Channel series "Liv and Maddie" where she played the dual roles of the titular characters, her first screen credit from when she was only 16 years old is from 2012 when she played Holly Herkimer in two Season 2 episodes on the long-running dramedy show.

Cameron's Holly was introduced in "Shameless" as a friend of one of the series' leads, Debbie Gallagher (Emma Kenney). Despite being a few years older than Debbie, Holly is in the same grade. Cruel jokes are made at her expense, saying she is promiscuous and suffering from HPV. In Season 2, Debbie invites Holly to her birthday party because she has a crush on Debbie's brother, Lip (Jeremy Allen White). After being rejected by Lip at the party because of her age, Holly runs off.

Dove Cameron had a busy 2012 and 2013 before blowing up

The character of Holly Herkimer returned in Season 4 of "Shameless," but Dove Cameron did not return to the role. Holly was then played by Danika Yarosh. Following her role on the Showtime series, Cameron went on to guest star on episodes of the shows "The Mentalist" and "Malibu Country" in 2012 and 2013, respectively, before landing the "Liv and Maddie" gig that made her a star.

Her first notable music success came in 2013 as well, when she covered an Imagine Dragons song called "On Top of the World." Since then Cameron has found success in both the fields of music and movies, as well as being a top figure in the world of social media. Cameron will be next seen in the thriller "Isaac" opposite RJ Mitte ("Breaking Bad") and in Season 2 of the musical comedy "Schmigaddon!" which premieres April 5 on Apple TV+.

She has two more projects in the works: the HBO Max movie "Field Notes on Love" and the role of Bubbles on the CW live-action adaptation "Powerpuff" about the superhero group The Powerpuff Girls from the popular Cartoon Network animated series.
