CSI Fans Are Split Over Whether Or Not Gil Grissom Was A Good Husband

"CSI" fans had the unique opportunity to see two of the series' pivotal characters, Dr. Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), evolve in nearly two decades worth of episodes. Grissom and Sara have been part of the "Crime Scene Investigation" family since the series premiered in 2000. And during that time, the colleagues-turned-lovers have had their share of ups and downs, which continued into the first season of "CSI: Vegas."

The duo is giving marriage another try, but the fans of the "CSI" franchises aren't on the same page when it comes to how dearly devoted Grissom has been to Sara over the course of their relationship. "Gil was always written to be pragmatic to a fault," u/ATerribleNerd posted. The Redditor also felt Grissom and Sara's relationship was being used as means to somehow make Grissom seem more human than he ultimately came across on-screen.

Meanwhile, Fox has her own take on Sara's rocky relationship with Grissom. "Sara and Gil have been through so much," Fox said in an interview with TV Insider. "They've been on again, off again, married, divorced, back together. "I really think when Sara got on that boat with him in 2015, at the end of 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,' at that point she was like, 'I'm going to stand with my man, and come what may, I know that I want to be with this man.'" Regardless of Fox's feelings, the "CSI" fanbase remains divisive when it comes to GilĀ Grissom's marital behavior.

Did Grissom do right by Sara when they jumped the broom?

Gil Grissom's (Petersen) two decades spent fighting crime isn't an issue for loyal "CSI" followers, but the fans do remain divided when it comes to whether or not Gil did right by Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) when they were married. "I love Grissom, but Sara almost died more times than I can count on one hand and he never seemed to care," Redditor u/octoberpanda posted. "She's been shot, stalked, targeted, potentially contracted an 80% lethal disease, etc. Even before they separated he never made an appearance."

"I don't know about everyone else, but I thought Grissom was a great husband," u/Tricky-Royal3950 wrote. "I'm a huge Grissom/Sara fan and I still agree, he was a pretty terrible off-screen husband," u/ThisOldMeme weighed in on the debate. Another Redditor couldn't have cared less about Grissom and his sometimes beloved. "I hated the relationship with a fiery passion, so I was fine with him being a lousy husband," u/Intrigued_by_Words commented.

But Redditor u/Stellaaahhhh arguably nailed down the issue by admitting both characters aren't without their faults, which ultimately contributed to the problems in their marriage. Operating under that assumption, it seems the "CSI" writing team would be more to blame for Grissom and Sara's debilitated union than Grissom himself. U/Filmfan-2022 also pointed out that an unnamed writer who worked on Season 13 was allegedly caught up in a divorce and added that angle to the storytelling to create another obstacle for Sara.
