When Calls The Heart Season 10 - What We Know So Far
Everybody loves a good story about a "fish out of water," which probably helps to explain why Hallmark's "When Calls the Heart" is its longest running scripted television series. Typically known for its bevy of Christmas movies, Hallmark's "When Calls the Heart" focuses on Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a teacher who formerly lived a life of opulence and privilege. Looking to make a difference, Thatcher decides to lend her talents to Coal Valley, a small and isolated community in the Canadian wilderness that is soon rebranded as Hope Valley.
At first, Elizabeth struggles to adjust to her new life, but she adapts and makes plenty of friends and lovers along the way. Season 9 ended in May 2022, and this season sees plenty of drama involving accidents, new residents, interpersonal relationships, and bad news, but it looks like there will be plenty more "When Calls the Heart" in the future, as Hallmark made some big plans for the series.
Who is in the cast of Season 10 of When Calls the Heart?
Fans can expect Season 10 of "When Calls the Heart" to contain most of their favorite characters from the popular TV show. This means that there will still be plenty of Elizabeth Thatcher, and considering the events of Season 9's finale, there will also be much more Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally). Besides these two main characters, audiences can expect Faith Carter (Andrea Brooks), Rosemary Coulter (Pascale Hutton), Lee Coulter (Kavan Smith), Molly Sullivan (Johannah Newmarch), and Bill Avery (Jack Wagner) to continue to pop up in some capacity.
In addition, despite Hope Valley being a relatively remote location, there always seems to be characters coming and going, so there is a chance of a new face popping up. Unfortunately, there are no specific casting announcements at this current time, but Season 10 is still a little bit off, and there may be some character surprises ahead.
"It's kind of like when you go back to school, and let's say you're all arranged in your desks, and you're very used to the way things are going in a classroom scenario," Brooks said to TV Fanatic. "All of a sudden, the teacher comes in one day and says, 'Okay guys, we're shuffling desks.'"
What is the plot of Season 10 of When Calls the Heart?
Since the Season 9 finale sees Lucas propose to Elizabeth, audiences will probably be treated to the newly cemented couple and their efforts to lay the foundation for their shared future. Besides that, fans will probably see additional plots around Rosemary, Lee, and their pregnancy, as well as stories with Bill and Henry Gowen (Martin Cummins). There may also be more issues surrounding the controversial mine, so it will be interesting to see how the drama and relationships continue to grow and change.
In a May 2022 interview with ET, Erin Krakow was asked if Lucas' proposal was always planned.
"Elizabeth is in a different place than she was with Jack," Krakow said. "The experiences of widowhood and motherhood have deepened her. I don't think she needs or even desires to be swept off her feet in quite that once-in-a-lifetime way she was with Jack. Including Little Jack in the proposal is a signal that her top priority now is as a mother."
In other words, it sounds like Little Jack (Hyland Goodrich) will also be playing a significant role.
When is the premier of When Calls the Heart?
On the bright side, Season 10 is not that far off. There has recently been an official confirmation of the premier date for "When Calls the Heart," which will grace television screens on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 9 p.m. EST. Season 10 will consist of 12 episodes, so it will be interesting to see how Rosemary and Lee deal with their pregnancy, as well as how Lucas and Elizabeth will settle into their new normal.
In addition, it also seems like Hallmark is feeling exceptionally confident in the show as it has already green-lit Season 11 prior to Season 10. Recently speaking with ET, Erin Krakow teased what is to come in Season 10.
"This season is full of beautiful moments and exciting twists and turns. I can't wait for the Hearties to see what we've created for them!" Krakow said. "I'm so thrilled, proud, and grateful to Hallmark that the show has been renewed for Season 11. We have so many more stories to tell. With our amazing cast, crew, and brilliant writers, there will be no shortage of romance and new adventures for the residents of Hope Valley!"
Is there a trailer for Season 10 of When Calls the Heart?
The above teaser trailer helps establish what Season 10 has planned for "When Calls the Heart," and it begins with Elizabeth engaging in a voice over. She notes how the town has changed as the camera coasts over Hope Valley's plainly dressed inhabitants.
The teaser then describes a swap meet created in the wake of businesses closing, so everybody has come together to help each other out. It will also be fascinating to see how Hope Valley shifts with the times and how the small community will finally bring back some much needed capital.
In an official statement collected by ET, Hallmark's Executive Vice President of Programming Lisa Hamilton Daly expressed their excitement at the upcoming Season 10 and 11.
"'When Calls the Heart' has continued to be a standout amongst our Hallmark catalogue, and we're thrilled that we're able to bring more stories of faith and community to the homes of millions of viewers," Daly said. "The uplifting nature of the show paired with the love and positivity in the storytelling makes for a very heartwarming television experience, and it's only going to get bigger and better in Season 11."
This sounds like Season 10 will definitely be an experience, and it is certainly great news that a Season 11 is in the works.
