Kevin Bacon Brings On The Dad Jokes In Hyundai's New Ioniq 6 Commercial With Daughter Sosie

Kevin Bacon is famous for starring in movies like "Footloose," "A Few Good Men," "Apollo 13," and "X-Men: First Class," although those are just a few titles in a successful career that's spanned decades. Acting has also played a huge part in his personal life. He met his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, on the set of the 1988 film "Lemon Sky," and the couple went on to work together on movies like "Pyrates," "Murder in the First," and "Cavedweller" (via People). Acting is definitely a family affair for Bacon, whose directorial debut, "Loverboy," featured Sedgwick and their children, Travis and Sosie Bacon (per NPR). Now, Bacon and his daughter Sosie are teaming up to promote Hyundai's latest all-electric vehicle.

Kevin Bacon has openly described his pride in Sosie's success following her performance in the psychological horror film "Smile." The older Bacon is no stranger to appearing in commercials, having previously appeared in an ad for a British mobile network operator, as well as an ad campaign for the American Egg Board (per CNN). Hyundai's Ioniq 6 commercial shines a spotlight on the father-daughter duo, giving them a chance to land a few jokes here and there while they point out the vehicle's various features.

The Bacons join forces to promote Hyundai's all-electric vehicle

The ad campaign for Hyundai's Ioniq 6 gives Kevin Bacon a chance to break out all his best dad jokes, a throughline that gives his daughter a chance to poke fun at him. In one commercial, Kevin is shown charging the sleek, gray vehicle, which he proclaims can travel up to 360 miles on a single charge. He's not the polished actor we normally see on the red carpet — he's corny and wears sunglasses hanging from a strap around his neck. Sosie watches on and points out that if her dad is going electric, anyone's father, no matter how stubborn or old-school, can take the plunge.

As they drive, Kevin alludes to the fact that the model is environmentally friendly, a factor that will benefit future generations. Sosie dryly says that she hopes this isn't her father's way of broaching the subject of grandchildren, a discussion that's funny and relatable. In another version of the ad, Sosie expresses shock that the same man who's constantly locked out of his email is going electric, though the jibe doesn't stop her dad from making as many puns as possible.

Kevin poked fun at his role in the commercial on Instagram, writing, "You know what rhymes with 'Kev?' EV. I know, I know, @sosiebacon rolled her eyes at that dad joke too. The all-electric #IONIQ6 is much smoother."
