Maisie Williams Says Game Of Thrones Isn't Filming Multiple Endings

Despite reports to the contrary, it sure sounds like the producers of Game of Thrones aren't going to expensive extremes to ensure the series finale isn't spoiled.

A few months back, HBO programming president Casey Bloys said that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would shoot several different versions of the ending in order to prevent anyone from leaking the real one. However, several cast members have subsequently said that plan isn't actually being put into effect.

Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on the show, is the latest to shoot down that rumor. She did it on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, saying that she knows how the show will end. When Kimmel asked her about the multiple endings idea, Williams said she was skeptical when she first heard about it. "I immediately thought, 'I don't think we've got the budget to shoot lots of different endings.'"

Kimmel said Bloys would definitely know if HBO had the money to spend, but Williams fired back with a political shot. "As we know, sometimes presidents don't always tell the truth," she said. Watch the interview in the video above.

However, Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, told The Telegraph back in December that the actors don't know which scenes they shoot are actually real. "They've written a number of different endings," she said. "So none of the cast know what the actual ending is. If there's ever a leak of any kind, don't believe it because it's probably not true."

At this point, it's difficult to believe anything. It does seem unlikely that HBO would pay to shoot footage that wouldn't ever see the light of day, but it wouldn't be all that crazy, either.

We've still got some time to theorize. The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones won't arrive until 2019.
