Dwayne Johnson To Star On Athletic Competition Series The Titan Games
Do you smell what the Rock is cooking? Unless you smell a new reality competition, you must've caught a whiff of something else.
Dwayne Johnson announced on the post-Super Bowl edition of The Tonight Show that he's set to executive produce and star on a new athletic competition series called The Titan Games. NBC gave the show a 10-episode first season and Johnson is looking for competitors in the video above.
Johnson said he was inspired by "his favorite show," American Ninja Warrior. That led him to partner with the producer of that show, A. Smith & Co., for his own series.
"We wanted to create a new kind of athletic competition unlike anything ever attempted before," Johnson said.
In each episode, competitors from across the country will step inside an arena and face one of six reigning Titans. If a contender defeats one of the existing Titans in challenges designed to test their mind, body and heart, they'll take their place as a member of the elite Titan group. But once they become a Titan, they'll have to stay undefeated to remain at the top.
The season finale will end with an epic battle where the Titans compete against each other to become the last male and female standing.
Meanwhile, Johnson has a lot on his plate. He's got Skyscraper coming July 13, and he's working on Disney's Jungle Cruise and a movie version of the video game Rampage.
