Jack Huston, Maximiliano Hernandez Join Mr. Mercedes Season 2

Two new faces have been recruited for Mr. Mercedes' second season, as Deadline reports Jack Huston and Maximiliano Hernandez are joining the cast of the Audience Network mystery-thriller.

Huston has signed onto the series in the role of Dr. Felix Babineau, a doctor overseeing the case of the now-captive killer Brady Hartsfield, who tormented protagonist Bill Hodges last season.

Hernandez is set to play an assistant district attorney named Antonio Montez.

Huston is most widely known for his role as Richard Harrow on Boardwalk Empire, and will also soon be seen in Amazon's Matthew Weiner-created series The Romanoffs. Hernandez, who previously appeared in SicarioThe Walking Dead, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, will be seen this year in the Amazon series Phillip K. Dick's Electric Dreams.

Based on a trilogy of books by Stephen King, Mr. Mercedes follows a former detective as he navigates retired life as a private investigator. The first season finished up its 10-episode run in October, being renewed for a second shortly before its finale. Showrunner David E. Kelley previously shared his hopes that the series would cover all three books in the trilogy on which the series is based: Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch.

Production on the new episodes of the series is set to begin next month in Charleston, South Carolina. The writers room for the second season will be led by Kelly and author Dennis Lehane, who wrote the crime novels Gone Baby Gone, Live by Night, and Mystic River.

Mr. Mercedes stars Brendan Gleeson in the lead role of Bill Hodges, and also stars Harry Treadaway, Scott Lawrence, Jharrel Jerome, Breeda Wool, Justine Lupe, and Holland Taylor.
