Better Late - What We Know So Far
ABC has signed on for a new production from David E. Talbert, a creative mind who's best known for his Netflix original movie musical, "Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey." The new series, which has yet to unveil any information regarding casting or even a release date, will be titled "Better Late," with the "Than Never" being quietly implied. However, it's confirmed that Lebron James (of "Space Jam: A New Legacy" fame) is attached, but his capacity, whether behind the camera or in front of it, is currently unknown
The official statement, which comes courtesy of Deadline, states that "Better Late" is happening and leaves it quickly at that. More information will undoubtedly be revealed as the production draws closer to completion and marketing revs into full gear but, for now, there's precious little to share. With that in mind, here's everything we know so far about Talbert's upcoming family comedy, "Better Late."
What is the plot of Better Late?
"Better Late" is to be a semi-biographical series based on David E. Talbert's lived experiences. As shared by Deadline, the story will follow a first-time dad whose own father — a noted deadbeat — chooses to reenter his life as a means to foster a relationship with his new grandson. This story will be framed with the intent of promoting forgiveness and second chances and finding the good in the midst of the bad. As the series has only just gone into development and Talbert has yet to openly discuss his personal history in any official capacity, there's nothing more concrete that we can report.
Ultimately, it sounds like ABC expects this to be another heartwarming series about family bonding, so it's endearingly appropriate that Talbert's partner, Lyn Sisson-Talbert, is signed on as well. She is usually listed as a producer on his works, but perhaps Sisson-Talbert's role will expand, given the personal nature of the story.
