Get Your First Look At Adam Strange In Krypton

Syfy unveiled the first official trailer for the upcoming Superman prequel series Krypton at the Television Critics Association on Tuesday, simultaneously unveiling the first look at the show's version of Adam Strange in the process.

Canadian actor Shaun Sipos, known for his work playing David Breck on The CW series Melrose Place and Eric Daniels on Life Unexpected, portrays Adam Strange, the iconic DC Comics character who made his print debut all the way back in the late 1950s. Strange is unique and compelling for the fact that he isn't your average superhero. In a universe of Supermans and Batmans, Strange bends more toward the sci-fi side of heroism, emulating some of the same characteristics vigilantes like Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers possess.

The footage features Sipos' Strange conversing with Cameron Cuffe's Seg-El, the grandfather of Kal-El/Superman, and warning him that "someone from the future is coming to destroy Krypton" before we see a flash of a figure that just might be the infamous android Brainiac, played in the series by Blake Ritson. Strange, who's dressed in casual streetwear you might see someone rocking today, holds Superman's cape as he later tells Seg-El that his grandson is going to become "the the greatest hero in the universe."

Check it out in the video above.

Developed by David S. Goyer and Damian Kindler, Krypton also features Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod, a Kryptonian military cadet and warrior who engages in a forbidden relationship with Seg-El; Ian McElhinney as Val-El, Seg-El's grandfather; Elliot Cowan as Daron Vex, the leader of Kandor who protects Krypton's oligarchy; and Ann Ogbomo as Alura Zod, Lyta Zod's mother and the Primus of the Kryptonian military guild. Rounding out the cast are Rasmus Hardiker as Kem, Wallis Day as Nyssa-Vex, Aaron Pierre as Dev-Em, Paula Malcolmson as Charys-El, and Blake Ritson as Vril Dox.

Here's the official synopsis for Krypton: "Set two generations before the destruction of Superman's home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel's grandfather, whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. With Krypton's leadership in disarray, Seg-El encounters Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) who warns he's under the clock to save his beloved world from chaos. Fighting to redeem his family's honor and protect the ones he loves, Seg is also faced with a life and death conflict: save his home planet, or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson."

Krypton is scheduled to premiere on Syfy on March 21.
