Black Lightning Gets Lit In New Poster And Trailer
The CW is about to add another DC hero to its roster, and he won't be working alone.
There's a new poster (below) for Black Lightning, and although it puts Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) at the center, he's joined by his two daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain). Comic book readers might know the pair better as Thunder and Lightning.
The CW also released an extended trailer for the first season of the series, which sets up the backstory of Pierce and offers up a long look at the villainous Tobias Whale (Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III).
Black Lightning picks up with Pierce now out of the superhero game and instead serving his community as principal of a charter high school. But when crime begins to spread again, he realizes he has no choice but to put on his costume and get back to work as Black Lightning.
As of now, the show won't be included in the CW's Arrowverse, and it's obvious that it has a grittier tone than the likes of Supergirl and The Flash. However, there's always a chance things will change down the road if the show resonates with viewers.
The first season of Black Lightning will premiere Jan. 16 on the CW.
