Expertise
Marvel Comics, Children's Literature, Science Fiction And Fantasy Films
- While finishing his PhD in 20th Century American Literature, Michael wrote his dissertation on the different reading communities that crafted their unique interpretations of the Wizard of Oz books, movies, TV shows, and other media. This required him to read a LOT of children's books, fan fiction, pop culture articles, and comic books.
- Since the 5th grade, Michael has been consuming Marvel Comics on a regular basis and is thrilled that the rest of the world has finally caught up with his obsession, based on current reactions to the MCU.
- During his grad school years, Michael earned extra money by performing as Spider-Man at children's birthday parties. His encyclopedic knowledge of the wallcrawler's exploits convinced many children that he really WAS Spider-Man... until they asked him to climb up a wall.
Experience
Also known as "Michael the Savant" at comic book conventions for his high scores on pop culture trivia games, Michael Jung loves sharing his comic book and movie knowledge with others. Having written for Screen Rant, Comic Book Resources, and Let's Eat Cake while simultaneously copyediting video scripts for Static Media, Michael is regularly immersed in pop culture. He's also applied his writing skills to creating his own story worlds and will be releasing several fantasy short stories and novels through his own publishing line. When he's not writing, you can find him traveling through the United States in a bid to visit 50 states before he turns 50.
Education
Michael earned his bachelor's degree in English at Arizona State University. He went on to complete his Master's in Literature and Doctorate in 20th Century American Literature from ASU. Today, he continues to further his education by constantly reading new works and interviewing experts in multiple fields including mental counseling, voice work, and performing arts.
