Seal Team Season 6 - What We Know So Far

If one knows anything about the American military, then it should clearly obvious that one should never mess with the elite units from each branch. The Marines have Force Recon, the Army has their Rangers, and the Navy has the SEALs. According to Brittanica, the foundation for the Navy's highly specialized fighters have their origins traced to the "frogmen" of World War II who focused on water-based operations, but it wasn't until 1961 when President John F. Kennedy formally called for the creation of units within each military branch that made unconventional warfare their bread and butter that the Navy SEALS officially started. From that point on, the SEALs represented some the very finest fighters America has to offer, and they were recently instrumental in the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

Of course a bombastic military unit like the SEALs is perfect for television, with their often high-stakes and clandestine operations. CBS and Paramount's "Seal Team" television series currently has five seasons underneath its belt, focusing on Bravo Team, which is the very best of the best of the SEALs. Needless to say, a standard issue Navy SEAL is already an exceptional combatant, but to rise to the top within the organization? That's an entirely different beast, and probably why "Seal Team" has proved to be so popular. With Season 6 having premiered on September 18, 2022, here's what we know about the latest installment of "Seal Team."

Who is in the cast of Seal Team Season 6?

The cast of "Seal Team" sees both season regulars return, as well as a fresh new face. This means that fans of the show will be greeted by team leader Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz), CIA liaison turned interrogator Mandy Ellis (Jessica Pare), the SEAL legacy Clay Spenser (Max Thieriot), Chief Warrant Officer Ray Perry (Neil Brown Jr.), the aggressive and skilled Sonny Quinn (A.J. Buckley), intelligence officer Lisa Davis (Toni Trucks), and Commander Eric Blackburn (Judd Lormand). However, it seems like a recent casting announcement promises a whole new character that will lend their skills to Bravo Team.

As reported by Deadline, Raffi Barsoumian will be joining the cast of "Seal Team" in Season 6 as Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator Omar Hamza. The character of Hamza will be an integral part of upcoming season because of his Syrian roots and his intimate comprehension of the ins and outs of Middle Eastern culture. The Middle East tends to have pockets of volatility, and the unit of "Seal Team" is sure to be sent there once Season 6 gets rolling, specially considering the addition of Barsoumian and his character's background.

What is the plot of Seal Team Season 6?

The plot of previous seasons of "Seal Team" have seen the elite unit sent to all over the world as they stop terrorists, sabotage illegal nuclear weapons research, and escape botched operations. Season 5 of "Seal Team" continues to rise the stakes of the show, and Bravo Team has been sent to notable locations like South Africa, Afghanistan, and Venezuela. The last episodes of Season 5 deal with Bravo Team's exploits in Venezuela in order to stop a rogue nuclear program, and as they escape the country, the team receives some blow back, both positive and negative when they return home. The Season 5 finale then sees Bravo Team sent to Mali, and it ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger as the team is ambushed.

This means that Season 6 will probably pick up with the pieces of Bravo Team's Mali mission, but with the previously mentioned addition of Barsoumian as a cast regular, it is probably safe to assume that Bravo Team will at least go on one mission to the Middle East, if not more. Speaking with TVLine, David Boreanaz was asked if Season 5's ending was designed as a series finale, and he replied, "We didn't design it in a way that said, 'Hey, we're doing this, and that's the end of the series!' I mean, if you did that, no one would know what really happened. With television, as you know, anything can happen — like, 'Oh, guess what. That's the end of the series.' There are a lot of forces that dictate that, but this wasn't designed. Spencer [Hudnut] wanted to go out the way he wanted to go out, for this specific moment. It shows again: Everything is good, and then bam."

Is there a trailer for Seal Team Season 6?

The trailer for Season 6 of "Seal Team" on YouTube promises more of what fans have come to expect from the popular show. The trailer immediately establishes itself by starting with a scene of the Mali ambush, and as Bravo Team comes under fire, and smoke, gunshots, and shouting dominate the scene, as well as a wounded member that causes his compatriots to craft a makeshift gurney to get him out of the active combat zone.

It then progresses and shows Bravo Team stateside, as Clay is seen in a hospital recovering, and it is explained that Bravo Team is going on a long term mission to Syria, and the trailer introduces Raffi Barsoumian's character of Omar Hamza. The trailer then alternates between Bravo Team helping to train North Syrian fighters, as well as domestic issues back home, and the trailer culminates in explosions, high speed landing craft, and gunfights — the typical fare of a televised Navy SEAL. Either way, Season 6 of "Seal Team" looks to contain all of the drama and action longtime fans of the series have come to expect. Now fans just have to wait for the "Seal Team" movie to come to fruition.
