That '70s Show Fans Wish They Saw More Of This Duo On Screen
The recipe for a successful television series isn't absolute, and creators must put their best ideas forward to make a hit. However, character chemistry is essential. There are plenty of shows with a large main cast, and each personality brings its own unique dynamic. Although, even great characters become less enjoyable when they don't mesh well with the other onscreen personalities.
"That '70s Show" nailed character chemistry from the beginning, and it is part of what made the show popular enough that after eight seasons on the air, "That '70s Show" got its own spin-off series. Each episode features two or more of the Point Place crew getting into some shenanigans or even sharing a heartwarming moment. At the same time, many members shared plenty of scenes, like Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon). However, one "That '70s Show" duo didn't get as much screen time as others, even if fans of the series wish they had.
Jackie and Red were an unlikely friendship fans loved
Jackie Burkhart (Mila Kunis) and Red Forman (Kurtwood Smith) won a Reddit poll asking which "That '70s Show" duo should have gotten more scenes together with 189 out of 410 votes. Unfortunately, the pair don't appear in scenes together often. However, in the few they do share, like in Season 1, Episode 18, "The Career Day," in which Red teaches Jackie how to change a tire, they are a blend of sass and personality.
Jackie Burkhart is known in the series as abrasive, sassy, and spoiled. In comparison, Red Forman is known for being the hard-headed, blunt, and reluctant father figure to the teenagers that spend their time in his basement. The pair seem like opposites, but both are a force to be reckoned with and prove in their scenes that they mesh perfectly. Audiences enjoy the onscreen duo so much that Reddit isn't the only site to have a poll with the two receiving hundreds of votes. A similar survey on Twitter ranking the top 15 friendships and duos on "That '70s Show" placed Jackie and Red at number six with 622 votes.
Considering that both Kurtwood Smith and Mila Kunis are reprising their roles (via IMDb), more Jackie and Red moments might be something "That '70s Show" fans are excited about in "That '90s Show," the upcoming sequel series, which will follow Eric and Donna's daughter Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) in Point Place (per Collider). While Jackie and Red aren't the only pair viewers enjoy seeing in scenes together, they deserved more than they got in the original series.
