The Deadliest Catch Moment That Had Fans In Tears

"Deadliest Catch" has remained must-watch television since its debut in 2005. Year after year, fans tune in to see how many crabs the team can pull in this time around as well as witness all of the inherent drama that comes with sharing a boat for extended stretches of time with a bunch of hotheads. Over the years, viewers have seen the crew get involved in some pretty precarious situations, including crew members falling overboard.

Things get hazardous quickly on the open sea; unfortunately, fans have had to say goodbye to some of their favorite crew members over the years. This includes Captain Phil Harris, who suffered a stroke and died of a pulmonary embolism shortly thereafter. However, one of the saddest, if not the saddest, moments to transpire on the show involves Captain Bill Wichrowski getting the news that one member of his crew had passed away. Fans won't soon forget the phone call that changed Captain Wichrowski's life forever when he learned about the passing of Nick McGlashan.

Fans teared up upon hearing of Nick McGlashan's passing

In the fateful episode, Captain Wichrowski is about to board a plane. While waiting, he receives a phone call, and it's here he learns that his crew member, Nick McGlashan, has passed away. Later, the news came out that McGlashan, at the age of 33, had died due to a drug overdose (via TVLine). Upon receiving the news, Wichrowski said, "Oh my god," before needing to get onto his plane. The remainder of the episode sees the other deck hands react to the news, and they're all heartbroken to hear that one of their own is gone.

Fans were equally as upset. McGlashan had been an indispensable member of the crew since 2013, and many took to the YouTube comment section to pour out their hearts and voice their support. One user wrote, "I was saddened by Nick's passing. He seemed like a really great guy that would be a true friend. Heart goes out to Wild Bill and the Deadliest Catch guys." Others managed to put themselves in Captain Wichrowski's shoes, such as one user who wrote, "I feel so bad for Cpt Bill, he did everything he possibly could for Nick and you could tell he really loved the guy."

Things remained emotional for the remainder of that episode, and our thoughts continue to go out to everyone who knew McGlashan and had the pleasure of working with him.
