The Supergirl Character You Are Based On Your Zodiac Sign

"Supergirl" is bursting with vivid characters, from techno-organic heroes like Brainiac 5 to tough-as-nails executives like Cat Grant. These fantastic figures grow and change over time as they face new challenges, shocking betrayals, and incredible triumphs. Consider Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl. This dazzling heroine might seem perfect, but in fact, she struggles to balance her duty to National City with her responsibilities to herself and her loved ones.

The characters truly are what make "Supergirl" such a special show. All fans have their favorites, which can be deeply personal: Many people love characters because they see their real-world struggles reflected in their fictional lives. This is a lot like the Zodiac. Astrological signs are big, bold figures with a lot of surprising nuance people use to understand themselves and their place in society. The world of "Supergirl" is full of magic and alchemy — why not define these characters by the stars? Read on to discover which "Supergirl" character you are, based on your Zodiac sign.

Aries: Alex Danvers

The most important element of Alex Danvers' (Chyler Leigh) identity is that she's Kara's big sister. Being Kara's protector and advocate defines who she is and what she does, and she does not take her responsibilities lightly. Anyone who has ever encountered Alex knows she doesn't suffer fools: If you irritate her or get in her way, you're in big trouble.

Though she may not be the super-powered Danvers sister, Alex is a warrior by nature, which is why she's a classic Aries. Aries folks are known for their courage, determination, and enthusiasm. They're extremely competitive and deeply driven, and tend to be fairly impatient and easy to anger. Though they may have a bit of a temper and tend to act before thinking, they're passionate friends and generous to those in their inner circle.

To those who don't know her, Alex comes off as cold and a little bit scary. But those close to her know she's warm, caring, and an extremely devoted friend. As a typical Aries, she can be impulsive and aggressive when faced with external threats, but this is only because she cares deeply about those in her life. Though Supergirl may be the most powerful being in National City, it's Alex you really don't want to mess with.

Taurus: James Olsen

James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) is a stable, reliable guy, which is why he's a Taurus. Taureans have a reputation for being stubborn and set in their ways. Traditions are important to them, and they love being surrounded by familiar things and spending time at home. Responsible and practical individuals, they have a lot of patience and will persevere no matter what.

For much of his life, James has been a devoted friend and employee. As Clark Kent's best friend and confidant and later Supergirl's, he's used to being a reliable sidekick. Though James is happy to be there for his friends, he also struggles with feeling like he's not doing enough, or that he's being overlooked. This feeling leads James to become a masked vigilante known as Guardian, despite the fact that he has no powers.

James' dedication to helping others is admirable, but it also reveals his Taurean stubbornness. He also finds it difficult to confront things that challenge his beliefs, such as Lena Luthor. Despite Kara's insistence that Lena is nothing like her villainous family, James continues to doubt her sincerity — until he starts dating her, that is. But, like most Taureans, James is a good friend to have in your corner, as his loyalty rarely wavers. That sort of solidity is worth putting up with a little stubbornness.

Gemini: J'onn J'onzz

A green Martian who escapes a nightmare on his home planet, J'onn J'onzz (David Harewood) comes to Earth and takes on the likeness and identity of DEO head Hank Henshaw. Though Alex and Kara are shocked to discover J'onn's true identity, they come to trust him as a friend and mentor. J'onn's goal is to reform the DEO from the inside, while protecting his adopted planet from foreign threats.

J'onn is a complicated figure in a unique situation, so it's only fitting he be represented by Gemini, one of the most complex signs. Geminis are often considered two-faced, but this doesn't necessarily mean what you think it does. As air signs, Geminis are extremely cerebral: They love learning and communicating with the world around them. Because of their curiosity and desire for knowledge, they are extremely adaptable and versatile — something that gets confused for flakiness or instability.

Geminis are also known as entertainers and are great with people, something that applies to J'onn's unique position. Because he's a green Martian, J'onn has the ability to read minds and communicate with others telepathically. He's also a shapeshifter and has access to all of Hank Henshaw's memories. J'onn's extremely powerful mental capacity and his innate adaptability and communication skills mean he is very likely one of the most powerful Geminis in the multiverse.

Cancer: Kelly Olsen

An emotional and intuitive water sign, Cancer is known as the nurturer of the Zodiac. These folks are extremely sensitive, and tend to take on other people's problems. They are deeply connected to all things home and family, and are passionately loyal to their loved ones. Though their emotions may trick others into thinking they're weak, they possess an innate tenacity and strength.

Kelly Olsen (Azie Tesfai) possesses all the most admirable qualities of a Cancer. Like her wife, Kelly grew up taking care of a sibling. Her brother James was always getting himself into dangerous situations as a kid, and Kelly was always there to pick up the pieces. As an adult, she joined the Army and experienced her own upheaval with the loss of her fiancé in combat. After returning from Afghanistan, Kelly became a psychologist specializing in trauma.

Kelly's profession winds up being very helpful to the Superfriends, as they've all had various traumas, especially after Kara's return from the Phantom Zone. Kelly transforms her innate compassion into her life's work, which makes her an archetypical Cancer. She quite literally takes on other people's problems as part of her job, and is never anything but understanding to her friends and colleagues who are in need. She's also the perfect partner for headstrong Alex, who often struggles with processing her feelings.

Leo: Cat Grant

Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) is truly one of a kind. A boss in every sense of the word, she runs her international media empire without breaking a sweat. Sassy, confident, and unafraid to show the world who she really is, Cat is hard to pin down. But we're going to take a stab at it and say that Cat Grant is a total Leo.

Leos are passionate people who tend to have huge personalities. They love being the center of attention, and rule their domains like lions rule the animal kingdom. This sign gravitates toward luxury and drama, and tends to be a bit vain — but they also have a generous heart. Receiving respect and admiration from their peers is important to them, and they know how to return the favor.

At first glance, Cat comes off as a demanding and mean-spirited boss. She's also definitely hard to please. But her tough love has a positive impact on Kara in the end, and she's the only person Kara trusts to help her reveal her secret to the world. Leos are intimidating, to be sure, but as Cat demonstrates, they're also pretty incredible friends.

Virgo: Winn Schott

Virgos are over-thinkers who are constantly processing information in search of solutions to various problems. Loyal, hardworking, and detail-oriented, they tend to be extremely focused on the task at hand — sometimes to their detriment. As industrious perfectionists, Virgos are overly critical of themselves and struggle with insecurity, even though they're generally very good at what they do.

Tech-savvy Winn (Jeremy Jordan) fits this sign perfectly. Underutilized in his job at CatCo, Winn is recruited by the DEO to be one of their tech experts, where he excels. He is a close ally of both Supergirl and Guardian, helping to create and modify the former's suit and providing the latter with much-needed tech support.

Winn is desperate to prove himself, in part because his father is a notorious criminal and in part because he's harbored a crush on Kara for many years. Winn finally gets the chance to prove his worth when he travels with Mon-El to the future to save the world and work with the Legion. A Virgo knows how to seize an opportunity, though they struggle to let their wins build lasting self-esteem. Thankfully, Winn's intelligence steadily helps him become a confident and capable hero in his own right.

Libra: Kara Danvers

When it comes to Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) herself, there's only one answer to the Zodiac question: Kara is a Libra. Libras are extremely invested in justice and keeping the peace. Gracious, compassionate, and empathetic, they're committed to helping others achieve a state of fairness. However, they tend to be idealists who struggle to make decisions. Relationships, which are extremely important to Libras, can be tricky: They avoid conflict and often tie their self-worth to their loved ones.

Kara Danvers is defined by her desire to help others. She believes it's her duty to protect the residents of National City (and the world), even if it comes at the cost of her life. She has empathy for every single person she encounters, even if they give her no reason to believe in them. Her blind optimism is one of the most central parts of her heroism, in fact. Sadly, it crushes her when there's a problem she is unable to solve or a person she just can't help.

A classic Libra, Kara's identity is so tied up in being a protector, she struggles to understand herself outside this persona. Like so many born under this sign, Kara sees herself through others' eyes, which makes it difficult to disentangle her self-worth from external opinions. Despite these struggles, Kara is the best hero National City could ask for, and her Libran qualities are a huge reason why.

Scorpio: Lena Luthor

Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) is the notorious Lex Luthor's younger sister. Though her brother is a major villain, Lena takes over her family's corporation with the intention of using it as a force for good. This introduces her to Kara Danvers, who eventually becomes her closest friend.

Though Lena is committed to using her money and power to help the world, she feels deeply betrayed upon discovering Supergirl's identity. She briefly follows in her mother and brother's villainous footsteps before returning to help the Superfriends once again. This intensity is what makes Lena such a compelling character, and it's also what makes her a Scorpio.

Out of all the signs in the Zodiac, Scorpios are the most cunning and strategic. Resourceful and mysterious, this sign has a deep well of power and intellect they use to accomplish their goals. Though they can be passionate friends and lovers, they don't respond well to any perceived slights, and betrayal will never be forgiven.

Lena possesses a huge amount of power she wants to put to altruistic use. But when she feels Kara's betrayed her, her controlling impulses overtake her kindness. Luckily, Lena's inherent goodness wins out in the end, proving Scorpios are as capable of being forces of positivity as any other sign.

Sagittarius: Mon-El

Sagittarius is the traveler of the Zodiac. This certainly applies to Mon-El (Chris Wood), known on Earth as Mike Matthews. Mon-El travels to Earth after his home planet, Daxam, is destroyed. The spoiled prince of Daxam, Mon-El initially has no interest in heroism or helping others. Instead, he focuses on partying.

Sagittarians are passionate fire signs who tend to be friendly, idealistic, and have a good sense of humor. Though they crave the truth and long for self-improvement, they don't always follow through. Breezy, restless, and spontaneous, Sagittarians have a thirst for adventure. This can take them to far-off places, but it also manifests closer to home: They're never going to turn down a chance to party.

As a new resident of Earth, much of Mon-El's time is spent exploring and learning about the customs and pleasures of his adopted home. He's friendly and good-spirited, just like his attendant sign, though he's not especially serious or reliable — at least at first. Luckily, Kara's innate goodness and selflessness eventually rubs off on Mon-El. He's able to become the hero Kara's always believed he could be, fully empowered by his Sagittarian passion and idealism. Self-improvement is a huge part of his character arc, which makes the most aspirational sign of the Zodiac a perfect fit.

Capricorn: Sam Arias

Capricorns are responsible, hard-working, and persistent. They're so goal-oriented, in fact, that they often repress any pesky emotions that might get in the way of achievement. Though they may take a while to warm up to people, Capricorns are extremely reliable friends and great leaders who tend to be excellent in any sort of crisis.

Samantha "Sam" Arias (Odette Annable) contains multitudes. She's a devoted single mother to her daughter and a loyal friend to Lena Luthor. She's also an extremely competent businesswoman as CEO and eventually CFO of L-Corp. But there's another side to her: She's also a Kryptonian Worldkiller known as Reign, who was sent to Earth before Krypton's destruction. As Reign, she is ruthless, brutal, and cruel — the exact opposite of everything Sam is.

As Reign admits, Sam is much stronger than she initially suspected. She has the ability to wrest control from Reign for long periods of time, despite her supposed human frailty. Sam's extremely impressive self-control and persistence in the face of this internal splitting secures her place as a Capricorn. Some of her power over Reign certainly comes from denial — she doesn't believe Lena when she tells her what she's discovered — which is right in line with Capricorn's tendency to repress unwanted feelings. Nevertheless, Sam's strength is real. A Capricorn can't be conquered, even by an alien powerhouse.

Aquarius: Brainiac 5

Cerebral Aquarius is known as the humanitarian of the Zodiac. They tend to be more interested in the conceptual side of things, rather than the emotional one, though they do have big dreams for the future of the world. Aquarians enjoy their personal freedom and often find themselves on the fringes of society because of their unique ideas. These independent thinkers are often quite uncompromising in their beliefs, no matter how bizarre others find them.

Brainiac 5 (Jesse Rath), known as Brainy by his friends, is a former member of the Legion from the 31st century. A synthetic organism with a highly developed intellect, Brainy primarily relies on logic and reason when making decisions. Like his Aquarian brethren, Brainy has big ideas for how to fix the world's problems, but sometimes forgets that not everyone is on his level.

Like others born under this sign, Brainy isn't always able to access his emotions. This is because of his robotic nature and the personality inhibitors he uses. With the help of the Superfriends — especially his love interest, Nia — he becomes able to accept his feelings and eventually turn off his personality inhibitors altogether. When his system is rebooted and he temporarily becomes an emotionless machine, Brainy is a terrifying thing to behold. But like so many Aquarians, when his powerful intellect and compassion combine, he is an unstoppable force of good.

Pisces: Nia Nal

The youngest member of the Superfriends, Nia Nal (Nicole Maines) becomes the hero known as Dreamer. A new reporter at CatCo, Nia is able to access her powers following the death of her mother. Like Kara, her mentor, Nia is ambitious, enthusiastic, and eager to prove herself. Though she's initially hesitant to accept her abilities, she eventually makes peace with them and puts them towards assisting Kara and the Superfriends.

Nia is most definitely a Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac. Compassionate, friendly, and wise, intuitive Pisceans often seem very youthful and very mature at the same time. They also struggle with boundaries and frequently find themselves divided between fantasy and reality. This can be a good thing — they're free thinkers who feel things very deeply. But it can also keep them from engaging with tough truths.

Nia completely embodies this sign. As Dreamer, Nia has psychic powers and the ability to enter other people's dreams — basically, Piscean intuition as a superpower. In addition to her mystical abilities, Nia is a deeply empathetic person. Though she's young and in some ways inexperienced, Nia's powers and compassion imbue her with deep wisdom. This perfectly encapsulates the dichotomy that defines Pisces.
