Maya Hawke's Favorite Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1 Scene Involves No Supernatural Hijinks

"Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1" contains more than its fair share of jaw-dropping moments. From Vecna's (Jamie Campbell Bower) horrifying first appearance to Max's (Sadie Sink) stressful but epic close call with death, which "Stranger Things" fans think might be the series' best moment, the latest season of the Netflix original series features some of its biggest and gnarliest scenes to date. Indeed, the first seven episodes of "Stranger Things 4" are all simultaneously darker and more awe-inspiring than practically any of the series' previous installments.

However, "Stranger Things 4" doesn't just work because of the various genre thrills and blockbuster action moments it provides. The show's fourth season also manages to keep each of its storylines rooted in the emotions and lives of its characters, and as a result, it maintains the same perfect combination of character and spectacle that made "Stranger Things" truly stand out when it first premiered on Netflix in 2016.

The series' ability to be both epic and intimate also means that some of the best moments in "Stranger Things 4" are fairly small and quiet. As a matter of fact, it's actually one fun but relatively inconsequential scene between herself and one of her co-stars that ranks as Maya Hawke's favorite scene in all of "Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1."

Maya Hawke loves one of Robin and Steve's video store conversations

In addition to further exploring the show's ever-growing fictional reality, "Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1" also picks back up with all of the central, surviving characters from the series' previous seasons. That means Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) and Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) are not only, once again, main players in "Stranger Things 4," but also just as good of friends as they were the last time viewers saw them together. In fact, Steve and Robin have become even closer by the time "Stranger Things 4" begins, thanks to their shared quest for true love.

Steve and Robin's shared yearning for romantic fulfillment becomes the focus of many of their scenes together throughout "Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1," including one conversation they have in the season's second episode. The conversation, which plays out almost entirely across one long, unbroken camera shot, follows Robin and Steve as they stock the shelves of the video store where they both work while Robin, in particular, rants about her and Steve's struggles to romantically connect with anyone else in town. Ultimately, it's a small but playful moment between the two characters, and it's actually Hawke's favorite scene that she got to film in "Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1."

The actor revealed as much during a recent post-season conversation. "I think my favorite scene to shoot in the whole series was that kind of almost-oner we did in the video store," Hawke said, adding, "I love that stuff." Given how beloved both Steve and Robin are by "Stranger Things" fans, it seems safe to say that Hawke isn't the only one who enjoys her and Keery's scenes together.
