The Obi-Wan Kenobi Part I Moment That Makes No Sense
Today, Ewan McGregor is back as the galaxy's coolest greeter ("hello there") in the new all-new "Star Wars" show on Disney+, "Obi-Wan Kenobi." A new adventure comes that sees the Jedi Knight in hiding head off to finally face his past — one that is guaranteed to be a former friend covered in black and sound like a broken air conditioner.
Before that inevitable too-close encounter happens, though, Kenobi is tasked with tracking down another member of the Skywalker bloodline. To draw Kenobi out, Inquisitor Reva (Moses Ingram) hires a squad of scum to kidnap Leia Organa (Vivien Lyra Blair) from Alderaan, hoping that her father's old friend would come running. He does, of course, but not before the bad guys (led by the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea) execute one of the worst snatches the galaxy has ever seen — and one that Reddit fans were quick to catch on to, unlike the goons involved.
Leia's captors look like they were actively trying not to capture her, according to Reddit
After establishing Leia as a royal pain to keep tabs on, she heads back to her go-to spot in the woods, only to run into some hired goons that have come to take her away. The villains give chase before eventually nabbing her — the only issue is that it's a hunt that takes far too long than it should, given how slow Leia is and how inept these thugs are when it comes to being blocked by either a branch or thick foliage. It was a noticeable issue that fans quickly took to r/StarWars to pick apart, wondering how such a scene was moving at a bantha's pace.
Redditor u/Jorinel was blunt and quick with their criticism of the scene, saying, "How the f*** did those dudes not capture Leia immediately, that was dumb," to which u/dmun replied, "This show has too much chasing children who clearly don't run fast." Redditor u/P4tchey added, "It looked like they were intentionally running into objects. I thought it was going to be a psyche out and they were just playing." Admittedly, it's a minor issue in a seemingly great debut of the Jedi Knight's return. Here's some (new) hope that things will pick up the pace should any further chases ensue in "Obi-Wan Kenobi" when it returns next week on Disney+.
