Olivia Munn Says Her Ocean's Eight Cameo Cost Her Money

Olivia Munn has a cameo in the upcoming heist movie Ocean's Eight, a gig that any actress would be excited about—if only it didn't cost her a hefty chunk of money.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly Radio, Munn revealed that her involvement with the all-female reboot required her to shell out some big bucks. The actress explained that she purchased a gown for her scene, which takes place at the Met Gala, only to be informed that she wouldn't be reimbursed from the studio for the cost of the pricey garment.

"It actually cost me money to be part of Ocean's Eight. It's a whole scene at the Met Ball. They're like, 'Do your own glam.' And I got the dress and all that, and then you submit the bills for it because I'm part of your movie. And then they're [the producers] like, 'Oh no, the bills come right back to you,'" Munn said.

Thankfully, Munn doesn't seem too fussed about the situation, stating that she isn't mad about footing the bill.

The actress then touched on how the all-female film emerges from the shadow of the female-centric Ghostbusters reboot, which opened to a ton of controversy. Munn commented that it's unfair of Hollywood to continue handing out opportunities to male actors to make middle-of-the-road movies, while rarely giving women the chance to create ones that could be fantastic.

"You see all these guys who keep falling up," Munn began. "They do crappy movie after crappy movie. They just keep getting more and more chances, and it's really obnoxious that if there's a female lead or a female director, it's like, 'You got one shot.' No, we don't!"

Ocean's Eight reimagines Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's movies starring George Clooney as Danny Ocean, placing Sandra Bullock in the lead role. As Debbie Ocean, Danny's estranged sister, Bullock pulls together a motley crew of badass females to carry out her high-intensity, high-stakes heist during New York City's star-studded annual Met Gala. The new crew consists of Cate Blanchett as Lou, Rihanna as Nine Ball, Mindy Kaling as Amita, Awkwafina as Constance, Helena Bonham Carter as Rose, Anne Hathaway as Daphe Kluger, and Sarah Paulson as Tammy.

Original Ocean's series stars Matt Damon (who played young pickpocket Linus Caldwell) and Carl Reiner (who portrayed high roller Saul Bloom) will reportedly make cameo appearances alongside Munn in the movie, which is set for release on June 8, 2018.
