This Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 2 Episode 20 Moment Is Nostalgic For Longtime Fans

"Law & Order: Organized Crime" is a police procedural that sees Christopher Meloni reprise his role as Detective Elliot Stabler, who formerly worked with the Manhattan Special Victims Unit on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Now working with the Organized Crime Task Force following a prolonged absence from the force, Season 2 of the series follows Stabler as he investigates the Brotherhood, a shady group of corrupt NYPD officers. As one of the many installments in the "Law & Order" franchise, "Organized Crime" features intriguing cases, interesting characters, and plenty of action.

"Law & Order: Organized Crime" has had several crossover episodes with "Law & Order: SVU," allowing Stabler to reunite with his former partner, Captain Olivia Benson ( Mariska Hargitay). Last week's episode, titled "Lost One," featured one of these reunions. The narrative follows Stabler as he teams up with Benson to investigate the kidnapping of a young girl named Sarah, the daughter of Officer Santos (Sebastian Arroyo), an incarcerated former member of the Brotherhood. The team races to locate Sarah, who is asthmatic, and identify her captors, providing plenty of classic Bensler moments for fans to dissect. One scene, in particular, proved extremely nostalgic for longtime fans of the franchise.

Stabler and Benson are at it again

The episode crossover begins with Benson and Stabler reviewing the case with Sergeant Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt). They quickly get to work tracking down potential suspects and looking into Sarah's life, coming to the conclusion that her disappearance must be linked to her father's criminal activity. Eventually, they identify a building with Brotherhood connections where they believe Sarah is being held. After Stabler and Benson arrive on the scene, Bell asks them to wait for backup. But they promptly ignore the command and head inside to find Sarah. Their rescue efforts are ultimately successful and fans on Reddit couldn't help but point out how the interaction encapsulates Stabler and Benson's relationship.

"They wasted literally NO TIME disobeying a direct order," wrote u/jmpinstl, who continued on to explain that the moment was reminiscent of Stabler and Benson's dynamic on "Law & Order: SVU." Other fans noted that dismissing the need for backup and going into dangerous situations against orders are classic Stabler and Benson moves from their days working together with the Manhattan Special Victims Unit. It's pretty impressive that the character's personalities are kept consistent even after all these years. Whether or not you ship the pair romantically, their chemistry as partners is undeniable. No matter how much time passes, Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson sharing the screen is always a welcome sight.

A new episode of "Law & Order: Organized Crime," titled "Streets Is Watching," premieres May 12 on NBC (via IMDb).
