The Venus And Tig Theory That Would Change Everything On Sons Of Anarchy

Through the guns, blood, and mayhem in "Sons of Anarchy," FX's biker drama is at its heart a show about love. Whether toxic, familial, or romantic, the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original is a family business, and decisions are made largely based on emotion. Jackson "Jax" Teller (Charlie Hunnam) makes many of his moves in order to preserve his family with Tara (Maggie Siff) against the pushback of his mother Gemma (Katey Sagal). Gemma's life revolves around the club, and though misguided and often murderous, she only believes in protecting her family. Jax and Tara are a tragically doomed romance, despite all the obstacles they come across, and by the devastating finale of "Sons of Anarchy," the couple and Jax's mother all lose their lives to the club.

But even with such tragedy, there are some success stories in "Sons of Anarchy" as well. In a surprising turn of events, hotheaded trigger man Tig (Kim Coates) finds love with Venus Van Dam (Walton Goggins). Tig is one of the last people who seem likely to find a supportive relationship. He would do anything for Clay (Ron Perlman) without question — especially murder — and he never seems to have healthy romances. However, when he meets Venus during a blackmail scheme, it is love at first sight. Venus is at first reluctant to pursue the relationship, but eventually the two form one of the most touching partnerships in "Sons of Anarchy." This opens the door for many theories regarding the relationship, especially about what the two might be doing after the show ends.

Fans believe that Tig and Venus got married

Many relationships in "Sons of Anarchy" can only be described as volatile. But the one relationship this does not apply to is Tig and Venus' romance. Though Venus only appears in six episodes, her relationship with Tig is beautifully developed in a way that is honest and sincere (via IMDb). In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Goggins expanded on one of the most heartfelt scenes of the series. The actor explained how, after consummating their relationship, Venus is certain Tig cannot return her feelings and is only with her because she fits his outcast brand.

They go on to have an honest and vulnerable conversation as Tig assuages her fears, making them one of the most cherished couples in the show. So much so, that many fans on Reddit had ideas about what the future has in store for the couple after the events of the show. "After a whirlwind courtship, Tig and Venus got married," posted u/PunterProggie. Fans were dedicated to the idea that at least one couple might have a happy ending. "One small step for gender relations, one giant leap for my theory tig and Venus will get married," commented u/Chaos-13.

Showrunner Kurt Sutter also commented on their future in an Instagram story (via Reddit), saying "I don't ever want to impose a direction or conclusion. I want all those characters and relationships to live on in people's imaginations." Though not exactly concrete, he went on to inspire hope: "Whatever you think happened to Tig and Venus is what happened to Tig and Venus."
