The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Reference You Likely Missed In Moon Knight Episode 3

Warning: Contains spoilers for "Moon Knight" Episode 3

Time really does fly by, huh? Because somehow, we're already halfway through "Moon Knight," and it's been a week since we fell in love with psycho Colonel Sanders. Episode 3 ("The Friendly Type") took us away from London and put us smack dab in the middle of Egypt as Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac) and Layla (May Calamawy) attempt to track down Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and the scarab. This is a predominately Marc episode as our beloved Steven takes a backseat to the obeying mercenary. We get a little bit of Steven when Layla and Marc meet Anton Mogart (Gaspard Ulliel) halfway through the episode and later when Khonshu turns back the night sky.

What we need to focus on is that scene with Anton and what happens before Layla and Marc officially meet with him. The duo is met by Bek (Loic Mabanza), who clearly knows Layla from the past. He leads Layla and Marc toward Anton and drops a line that viewers of "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" might have taken a great interest in.

Once upon a time in Madripoor

As the trio walks toward the horse ring, Bek says something intriguing to Layla. "He's looking forward to seeing you. After Madripoor, I'm sure you two have a lot to talk about," Bek says. Ah yes, Madripoor. The Southeast Asia city-state debuted in "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" and is a haven for crime as its Lowtown is a hideout for some of the world's worst criminals. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) traveled there with Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) to find the source of the Super Soldier Serum and met all sorts of interesting characters along the way.

The mention of Layla and Anton having spent time with one another in Madripoor suggests both are into some pretty shifty business. Layla is on the side of good, so her travel to Southeast Asia was likely to track someone or something down, and we don't suspect her to be any sort of criminal. While "Moon Knight" has mostly disconnected itself from the larger MCU, this fun nod to Madripoor and another "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" easter egg from " Moon Knight" Episode 2 has been rather fun for fans.
