The Bruce Wayne Detail That The Batman Fans Can't Stop Discussing

After several delays due to the pandemic and months of anticipation, Matt Reeves' "The Batman" has finally released in theaters. The movie follows Batman (Robert Pattinson) in his second year as the Caped Crusader, still struggling to cope with the traumas of his own past and trying to figure out a way to help the city he loves.

The man behind Batman's cowl, the orphaned heir Bruce Wayne, is not in the best state, either. Failing to come to terms with his grief and his family's legacy, Wayne lives a sad, solitary life. The movie also focuses on Wayne's detective work as he solves the riddles left by a notorious serial killer, the Riddler (Paul Dano), who has vowed to reveal the corrupt faces of Gotham.

Complete with black eye makeup and edgy lines like "I am the shadows," Pattinson marked his superhero debut in an emo avatar. His take on the Caped Crusader received fan attention from the time the trailer came out. It is only fitting now that since the film premiered, fans are dissecting every small detail about Pattinson's Batman — from his gait to his chemistry with Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz). But there is another aspect of Pattinson's look that also has fans talking.

Fans have opinions on Bruce Wayne's hair

We don't see Batman's hair while he's in costume, but as Bruce Wayne, he's shown with long, black hair that falls untidily in his face. In the case of Robert Pattinson, the stark-black straight hair was unlike his brown and wavy hair that audiences and fans are accustomed to. And fans had many thoughts on the black hair.

On a Reddit thread for "The Batman," u/My_Immortal_Flesh wrote, "It fits the current mental state he's in, and he's still fresh in the crime-fighting game, carrying all the sadness and heavy burden of his past..." Redditor u/ThePrinceSSani agreed and gave their own opinion, "I think [it is] pretty dope tbh, not a preppy Bruce Wayne, it fits him and the character (mental state, rockstar vibes, kinda depressed)! [It's] a different vision of a rich boy, alternative, I like it a lot!"

On the other hand, some people found the hair to simply be appealing rather than a representation of Wayne's state of mind. U/LR-II wrote, "Everyone saying that hair is for someone with mental health issues, and here I am wanting a haircut like this." Meanwhile, u/kurtpropan666 was amused with the theories. They said, "Today I realized long hair means depression? Lmao ok."

It seems that many fans also loved Wayne's hairstyle so much they wanted it for themselves. So in the coming days, don't be surprised if you see someone with hair like Pattinson's Wayne.
