Hayley Atwell Joins Ewan McGregor In Christopher Robin
Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell is returning to the big screen. Variety reports that Atwell has signed on to star opposite Ewan McGregor in Disney's upcoming drama Christopher Robin.
Christopher Robin, not to be confused with the similarly-titled Goodbye Christopher Robin, will follow McGregor as Winnie the Pooh's former best friend, now an adult who has lost his imagination and prioritizes work over his family. That all changes when Pooh and his friends reenter his life, helping him find his happiness once again. Atwell will play his wife.
This will not be Atwell's first time appearing in one of Disney's live-action remakes. She played the title character's mother in 2015's Cinderella. Her strong relationship with the studio has also been reinforced by her starring role in the MCU, which she debuted in Captain America: The First Avenger and later reprised in her own standalone series. Atwell is a Golden Globe nominee for her role in 2010's The Pillars of the Earth miniseries; she is also known for The Duchess and Conviction.
Listen Up Philip's Alex Ross Perry wrote the first draft of the script for Christopher Robin, which was later rewritten by Spotlight's Tom McCarthy and, most recently, Hidden Figures Oscar nominee Allison Schroeder. The Jungle Book's Brigham Taylor will produce, while World War Z's Marc Foster will direct. There is no word yet on when the movie will premiere. For now, head over to Nicki Swift to see every live-action remake that Disney is planning for the coming years.
