What Is The Song In Nissan's Super Bowl 2022 Commercial?

The Super Bowl is not to be taken lightly. Every year, millions of fans attend events and viewing parties to find out which team is the best of the season. No doubt about it — this is the biggest game of the year and many people's favorite part of February. But it isn't just the game that will keep people chatting online and in person for days to come. No, there's so much more to this glamorous sporting event — the ads.

Super Bowl advertisements are almost in a league of their own when it comes to judging the best of the best. Creative teams pull out every trick that's been hiding up their sleeves to create the boldest and most memorable advertisement possible to keep audiences engaged and entertained during commercial breaks. This year, one of those commercials is a star-studded, action-packed thrill ride starring Eugene Levy, and the soundtrack to the ad might surprise you.

Rick James provides the background music to Eugene Levy's thrill ride

In Nissan's 2022 Super Bowl commercial, Eugene Levy takes the ride of his life when he gets in the driver's seat of the 2023 Nissan Z. Levy encounters other Hollywood stars on his joyride, zipping past Brie Larson, Catherine O'Hara, Danai Gurira, and Dave Bautista. All the while, the smooth sound of Rick James' "Give It to Me Baby" plays in the background.

"Give It to Me Baby" was featured on Rick James' fifth album, "Street Songs," released in 1981 (via Spotify). The song spent a total of 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 40. Over the years, "Give It to Me Baby" has been featured in several movies, including "She's All That" in 1999 and "Bride Wars" in 2009. There is even a choreographed dance scene to the song on the Netflix series "Living with Yourself." "Give It to Me Baby" and the star-studded commercial it's featured in will be heard by millions this Super Bowl Sunday.
