Preacher Season 2 Trailer Introduces New Villain

You'll have to see it to believe it.

During this week's San Diego Comic-Con, the cast of AMC's Preacher took the stage in the convention center's coveted Hall H to unveil a sizzling trailer for the upcoming episodes of its second season, one that introduces the newest big bad. 

The trailer gives Preacher fans the very first look at the main villain of season two: Herr Starr, played by Pip Torrens. In the comics lore, Herr Starr is depicted as an unsettling combination of murderous and socially awkward. Tack on the fact that he's an all-out sexual deviant, and the character is suddenly even more terrifying and hilarious than before. Series developer and producer Seth Rogen told the presentation attendees that he believes Herr Starr is "one of the most bada– men on the planet" (via ScreenRant).

Featuring an opening shot that highlights Herr Starr's bloodied fists and his intentions to kill a man, the new Preacher trailer carries on to tease the story of Eugene Root (Ian Colletti) and Hitler (Noah Tyler), which will likely make some slow-burning progress future episodes. It also explores the revelation that the Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish) hasn't actually gone missing, as a few minions from hell spot him on his way to kill Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper). As expected from Preacher, the trailer also shows off fist-fights and confrontations.

Rogen kicked off the trailer reveal by telling the audience that bringing Preacher to life has been one of his biggest dreams, and seeing it on the small screen solidifies that his dream has been realized. Rogen was joined by Ruth Negga (who plays Tulip), Joseph Gilgun (who plays Cassidy), Cooper, and AMC's Chris Hardwick. Cooper promised Preacher fans that there's much more to come in the second season, particularly regarding a secret side of Jesse viewers haven't yet seen. 

In addition to Torrens' Herr Starr, upcoming episodes of Preacher will introduce the other two members of the group known as The Grail, which is comprised of Herr Starr, Featherstone (Julie Ann Emery), and Hoover (Malcolm Barrett).

The next episode of Preacher season 2 is set to air on July 24. Until then, check out the other TV shows we're excited to see this year.
