Is There A New Chicago P.D. Episode On Tonight? (February 2, 2022)
When "Chicago Fire," the first series in the One Chicago universe, originally premiered on NBC, Dick Wolf — whose prior TV production experience was largely on cop shows — entered into a new chapter of his career by helping create a series focused this time on a team of firefighters.
Just one year later, however, Wolf and co. grew "Chicago Fire" into a part of an interconnected universe with the addition of a companion cop show titled "Chicago PD." Since then, "Chicago PD" has become a core component of the One Chicago franchise.
Most recently on "Chicago PD," Season 9 Episode 12 divided its attention between an attempt at identifying the leader of the Los Temidos gang and the reliability of an informant employed by Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). That episode aired on January 19. The series then went on hiatus the following week, leaving viewers left wondering for longer than usual how its major story arcs would continue to develop. Following this one week break, fans of the show are doubtlessly wondering whether or not the series will return on February 2, two weeks after its last new episode premiered.
There will not be a new episode of Chicago PD on February 2
Unfortunately for viewers eager to jump back into the ongoing cop drama of "Chicago PD," the series' winter break will continue through February 2. According to NBC's schedule for the day's programming, episodes of "Chicago Med," "Chicago Fire," and "Chicago PD" will all air in their usual time slots. However, while their schedule doesn't list its exact episode number, the network summary of the night's episode reads, "Upton and Ruzek answer a call to an abandoned house." This describes Season 9 Episode 4, titled "In the Dark" (via IMDb), which originally aired in October of 2021. Then, for the next couple of weeks, NBC's programming will be dedicated to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
As outlined in a piece by TVLine, the next new episode of "Chicago PD," which will be Season 9 Episode 13, is scheduled to air on February 23. The episode is titled "Still Water," and will see Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) attempt to save the victims of a car crash.
For now, though, "Chicago PD" will continue its extended absence through tonight, February 2, 2022, and into the coming weeks.
