Where Did Judge Renslayer Go In The Loki Finale?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries "Loki" completely turned fans' understanding of the shared universe upside down. The six-episode miniseries follows Loki (Tom Hiddleston) after his brief appearance in "Avengers: Endgame," when fans witnessed a variant of the character escape from The Battle of New York from 2012's "The Avengers" with the Tesseract. The Avengers don't have time in "Endgame" to consider this version of Loki, and that's where the miniseries steps in, introducing characters like Judge Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), Mobius (Owen Wilson), and the Time Variance Authority.

In "Loki," the titular character is quickly apprehended by the TVA and is told that his actions defied the Sacred Timeline, which the TVA keeps in check to prevent multiple timelines from breaking out and causing a multiversal war. Throughout Season 1, Loki befriends a variant of himself named Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) and realizes there is more to the TVA than even its leader, Judge Renslayer, understands.

The Season 1 finale introduces He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), who tells Loki that he ended a multiversal war between variants of himself that started in the 31st century, and created the TVA to prevent another war. In the Season 1 finale, Renslayer overpowers Mobius in a fight and escapes the TVA headquarters after she receives information from He Who Remains — but where does she go?

Did Judge Renslayer search out He Who Remains' variants in the future?

In the "Loki" Season 1 finale episode "For All Time. Always.," Renslayer tells Mobius that "only the [person] in charge" can truly acquire free will. She then leaves the TVA headquarters through a portal, saying she is in search of free will. Renslayer does not appear in the rest of the episode, and the show's cliffhanger ending suggests that by the time Sylvie sends Loki back to the TVA and kills He Who Remains, a more sinister variant of He Who Remains has taken over.

Redditor u/jbm013 posted a strong theory on the Fan Theories subreddit, suggesting that Renslayer is seeking out He Who Remains based on the information she receives from Miss Minutes. They wrote: "Before [Renslayer] went through the door she told Mobius she was going to 'find free will,' but during their argument she said the only ones who get free will are those in power. I think she is going to find Nathaniel Richards (Kang, He Who Remains). The info [Miss Minutes] gave her that 'he thought would be more useful' was his location in the 31st century. She is in power with him on the new timeline and due to her personal grudge makes sure no Loki ever exists."

Given that "Loki" Season 2 is in development, it seems likely MCU fans will see Renslayer again. This time, she could be allied with an even more sinister He Who Remains variant.
