New War For The Planet Of The Apes TV Spot Unveiled
Witness the end of an epic war.
20th Century Fox released a new War for the Planet of the Apes television spot, shown above. Aptly titled "Fight," the clip promises that Caesar's (Andy Serkis) story will come to an end, and a new world will emerge from the ashes following the man-monkey conflict.
Though the spot doesn't show off any standout footage fans haven't seen before, it does include a quick shot of a gorilla preparing a gun with ammunition before handing it off to the human army. As all Planet of the Apes enthusiasts know, the dynamic between mankind and the primates is tense, so it seems that short sequence will hold much more weight in the final version of the film. Perhaps the humans have enslaved a group of apes to aid them in their war efforts, or maybe the animal really has crossed over to the other side.
Here's the synopsis for the upcoming film: "In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet."
Directed by Matt Reeves, War for the Planet of the Apes also stars Judy Greer, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Ty Olsson, and Amiah Miller, among others. The film is set to open in theaters on July 14. In the meantime, check out the other films we're looking forward to seeing this summer.
