Forest Whitaker Cast In Apocalyptic Netflix Thriller How It Ends

Forest Whitaker has his sights set on a popular streaming service for his next film project. 

Per Deadline, Whitaker has joined the cast of Netflix's How It Ends, the action thriller flick from The Perfect Guy director David M. Rosenthal and Rambo: New Blood scribe Brooks McLaren. 

Based on McLaren's 2010 Black List script, The film focuses on an eerie apocalyptic event that transforms city streets into total chaos, and the young father who goes to the ends of the Earth (although not literally) to return home to his pregnant wife on the opposite side of the country.

Details on Whitaker's role weren't revealed, but we do know that he'll join Divergent franchise star Theo James for the project. James plays the unnamed father at the center of the story.  

Whitaker recently starred in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as Saw Gerrera, the a resistance fighter and leader of the Onderon rebels who battled against the Confederacy in the Clone Wars. He also appeared as Colonel Weber in the Amy Adams-led sci-fi film Arrival. Whitaker will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Black Panther alongside Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Angela Bassett, and fellow Star Wars actress Lupita Nyong'o. 

Filming for How It Ends is slated to kick off next month in Winnipeg, Canada. No word on a release date has been given just yet, but we'll update you as we learn more. In the meantime, check out some of the best movies currently available on Netflix.
