How Strong Is Demon Slayer Season 2's Tengen Uzui?

The smash-hit series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is entering new territory with its most recently-released episode on Hulu, at least for fans of the anime. The series, based on the manga of the same name and written by Koyoharu Gotouge, follows Tanjiro Kamado and his sister Nezuko after their family was brutally murdered by demons and Nezuko herself was turned into a demon. Tanjiro strives to become a powerful demon slayer in order to avenge his family's deaths and encounters plenty of friends and foes along the way.

Season 2 of "Demon Slayer" started off with a recount of the events from the franchise's first film "Mugen Train," which is now considered Japan's highest-grossing movie of all time (via Funimation). In the film, Tanjiro, along with his fellow Demon Slayers Zenitsu and Inosuke, are tasked with dispatching demons and saving the humans on board the Mugen train. The gang partners with the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, who unfortunately meets his untimely death when an upper-rank demon shows up.

The recently-released Season 2 Episode 8 of "Demon Slayer" picks up right where "Mugen Train" left off, and Tanjiro and friends are given a new mission: to defeat the demons plaguing Japan's entertainment district. The series' Entertainment District Arc introduces the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui, and just by looking at his pumped-up muscles you can tell he must be pretty strong. But how exactly does he measure up to the other Hashira?

Tengen's abilities makes him undoubtedly powerful

The Hashira are the most powerful warriors in the Demon Slayer Corps and each possess their own Breathing Style and abilities. Since the anime version of "Demon Slayer" is just entering the Entertainment District Arc, viewers haven't been introduced to all of the Hashira yet, but as the manga is already completed, readers have a better sense of characters and their strengths.

The recently-introduced Hashira Tengen, with his rippling muscles and large build, is not only physically strong, but he also possesses high intelligence and sound judgement. Additionally, he is an extremely skilled swordsman and has enhanced hearing, stamina, and speed (via Fandom).

Several "Demon Slayer" manga readers took to a Reddit thread titled "So, how powerful really is Tengen Uzui?" to discuss how Tengen measures up to his fellow Hashira. User u/asteroidblues65 responded, "Not far from top tier. Faces 2 moons as a lone hashira and survives." For those that do not know, "moons" refers to the Twelve Kizuki who are the most powerful demons in existence, so the fact that Tengen took two on at once definitely says something about his strength.

Another user named u/AnimeAndThings wrote, "Pretty powerful, considering that he is the fastest runner and has the second highest arm-strength among the Hashira. In addition, Tengen has Echolocation, extremely high poison resistance, and a special technique (the score) that basically guarantees victory when completed."

With all of this in mind, it's safe to say that Tengen ranks pretty high up in terms of strength.
