James Franco Goes '70s In The Deuce Teaser

James Franco is taking a trip back in time for the upcoming HBO series The Deuce. In the show, Franco stars as two twin brothers who become fronts for the mob as the porn industry begins to rise in New York City. The show, which also deals with the rise of HIV and the drug epidemic, backs up Franco's dual performance with an interesting cast of characters, including Maggie Gyllenhaal's Eileen "Candy" Merrell, a sex worker who is pulled into the porn industry.

The first teaser doesn't reveal much about the series, but it does show that it is fully embracing its '70s vibe. Set to the tune of Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up," the teaser features quick glimpses of partying, fighting, and drug use, teasing an epic adventure to come when the show finally premieres on September 10.

Emily Meade, Anwan Glover, Chris Bauer, Dominique Fishback, Natalie Paul, Chris Coy, Gary Carr, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Michael Rispoli, Margarita Levieva, Ralph Maccio, Zoe Kazan, and Gbenga Akinnagbe also star in the eight-episode series, which comes from The Wire's David Simon and George Pelecanos.
