Rosario Dawson In Talks To Star In New Mutants
Rosario Dawson may take on her second Marvel role, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with the actress in talks to star in the upcoming X-Men "horror movie" New Mutants.
Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams and Split's Anya Taylor-Joy are already on board for the movie, and rumor has it that 13 Reasons Why star Henry Zaga is also in talks for a role. The movie, which focuses on a group of teens dealing with their newfound superpowers, will be directed by The Fault in Our Stars' Josh Boone.
Dawson, who plays Claire Temple on Marvel's Netflix series, is reportedly in talks to play Dr. Cecilia Reyes, who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself. The character would take on a mentor role for the young mutants, replacing James McAvoy's Professor X, who likely will not appear in the movie. In addition to playing Claire Temple in the small screen MCU, Dawson has already lent her voice to a number of superheroes, including Batgirl in The Lego Batman Movie and Wonder Woman in Justice League Dark. She is also known for Rent, Seven Pounds, Death Proof, Grindhouse, Sin City, and, most recently, Unforgettable.
New Mutants has an April 13, 2018 release date, but Dawson can next be seen playing a hero in The Defenders, which hits Netflix on August 18. While we wait, read up on the untold truth of the superhero team.
