Rainn Wilson Flees From The Law In Darkly Funny Shimmer Lake Trailer
Rainn Wilson is part of a bank robbery gone wrong in the new trailer for Netflix's upcoming original film Shimmer Lake. In the movie, Wilson plays Andy, the brother of local sheriff Zeke (Benjamin Walker) and one of three suspects in a recent heist.
"I'm not asking people to be perfect," Zeke says at the start of the trailer, speaking to his niece Sally. "Everybody makes mistakes, I'm no exception. But everybody thinks they can do whatever the hell they want, with no repercussions whatsoever. So what is the point of being the only clean person in a town that's completely dirty?"
The trailer then cuts to Andy, who says he has to miss his daughter's ballet recital that night. What he doesn't tell his wife is that it's because he has planned a robbery alongside Ed (Wyatt Russell) and Steph (Stephanie Sigman), a robbery which quickly goes awry as Ed screws over the rest of the group. "I gotta find a way to get that money so we can get the hell out of here," Andy says.
The innovative movie, which was written and directed by 22 Jump Street's Oren Uziel, tells the tale of the heist gone wrong in reverse, moving backwards day by day throughout the week. The movie, which also stars Adam Pally, John Michael Higgins, Ron Livingston, Rob Corddry, Mark Rendall, and Julie Khaner, will hit Netflix on June 9; for now, see which other TV shows and films it will have to compete with to become one of Netflix's best exclusive releases.
