Hellbound Season 2 - What We Know So Far

Religion and horror have often gone hand-in-hand. After all, there's something about the concept of eternal damnation that lends itself well to tales of the macabre. "The Omen," "The Exorcist," and "The Witch" have all played with this concept, and now, the newest Netflix series has gotten in on the trend in spectacular fashion.

"Hellbound," based on the webcomic of the same name, takes place in a world where select individuals receive haunting visions foretelling their deaths, down to the hour. When the time strikes, three demons materialize to kill the person, dragging their soul down to Hell with them. It's a horrific show, and it doesn't let up for a second. In fact, the first scene in the premiere episode shows precisely how the formula mentioned above works to terrifying results.

Netflix has yet to renew the show for a second season, but the first season ended in such a way that undoubtedly leaves the door open for more stories set in this universe. If it materializes, here's what we'd expect.

What's the release date for Hellbound Season 2?

Without an official Season 2 confirmation, there's no word on when precisely we'll see more episodes. However, assuming Netflix picks it up in the near future, it would make the most sense for next season to come out roughly one year after the first.

"Hellbound" Season 1 premiered on the streaming platform on November 19, 2021. There were only six episodes in that season, and it would make sense for a follow-up to pursue roughly the same course. It would be easy to envision a scenario where "Hellbound" Season 2 debuts in late 2022, likely in November or December.

Who's in the cast for Hellbound Season 2?

An eclectic cast of characters fills out the roster for Netflix's "Hellbound." Some give into fanaticism concerning the mysterious, otherworldly beings, while others aim to diminish the influence of the cult organization. They all bring a unique perspective to the table, and a second season of "Hellbound" would likely recruit the likes of Jin Kyeong-hoon (Yang Ik-june), Bae Young-jae (Park Jeong-min), Song So-hyun (Won Jin-ah), Min Hye-jin (Kim Hyun-joo), and Jeong Jin-soo (Yoo Ah-in). Of course, there has to be plenty of fresh blood to satiate the hunger of the demons, so expect plenty of new faces for "Hellbound" Season 2, as well.

What's the plot of Hellbound Season 2?

There are no indications of what a second season may entail, but the Season 1 finale does give us a good idea of what direction might be in store for the horror series. In the season's final moments, the camera zooms in on the burnt remains of Park Jeong-ja (Kim Shin-rok). She died earlier in the season, with her death broadcast by the New Truth Society to scare the world into following their cause. While it seemed like she was good and dead, she's suddenly reanimated.

It's an intriguing wrinkle because it suggests death from the monsters may not be as permanent as initially believed. There may be a way to bring people back to life, which could give humanity the hope it needs to help combat these monstrous occurrences.

The first season focused primarily on humanity's response to the new threat. Is it possible we'll learn more about the creatures themselves and why they suddenly decided to doom humankind? Hopefully, Netflix will renew the show soon so that we can see what else this universe has in store.
