The Lucifer Character You Are Based On Your Zodiac Sign

As might be expected from a series that boasts the devil as its main character, "Lucifer" is deeply-rooted in stories and characters from the Old and New Testaments. In addition to Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), everyone from first woman Eve (Inbar Lavi) to her fratricidal son Cain (Tom Wellington) and from the archangel Michael (Ellis again) to God (Dennis Haysbert) himself have shown up over the course of the show's six seasons. While "Lucifer" isn't strictly devoted to the details of the Jewish and Christian traditions from which it takes much of its inspiration, it nonetheless offers a surprisingly nuanced view of the moral struggles everyone — including celestials — face as they attempt to determine who they are and what matters most to them.

Given the Biblical roots of "Lucifer," it may seem counterintuitive to look to the stars instead of the heavens in describing the personalities of the show's characters — especially since divination is forbidden in the Old Testament and considered incompatible with Christianity. But assigning zodiac signs to the "Lucifer" characters is a fun exercise of which Lucifer himself would undoubtedly approve, and could even gain some insight from. Here are the zodiac signs each Lucifer character embodies. Which character aligns with your sign?

Aries: Mazikeen

The demon Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt) was initially Lucifer's bodyguard and closest confidante. Her punch first, ask questions later attitude made her the perfect choice to defend the devil, and also makes her the quintessential Aries. Those born between March 21 and April 19 are ruled by the planet Mars, a symbol of war, and that proactive, battle-ready stance is a perfect description of Maze's personality. It's these qualities that make Maze excellent at her job as a bounty hunter, too. Quicker, faster, and more determined than her colleagues, Maze's ability to find a bounty in record time is unmatched, and so is the enjoyment she takes from bringing the bad guys down.

Maze also embodies many Aries' biggest weaknesses. She can be excessively blunt and impatient, characteristics that often make her come across as uncaring and harsh. Yet, underneath that tough exterior is a fiercely loyal interior that naively thinks her friends will always be there for her the moment she needs them. When they disappoint her or ask her to wait, she tends to take matters into her own hands while impulsively directing her anger at the people who let her down. This is why, throughout the series, she almost destroys Lucifer multiple times. Nonetheless, those born under the first sign of the zodiac don't usually hold grudges, and neither does Maze. As a result, she has managed to maintain a (mostly) positive relationship with Lucifer for six seasons.

Taurus: Charlotte Richards

Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer) has spent the bulk of her time on "Lucifer" as a vessel for Lucifer's mother, the Goddess; meanwhile, the real Charlotte was relegated to hell. When the Goddess finally vacates her body and Charlotte comes back, her time in the underworld fundamentally changes her outlook. As a result, there are two Charlottes: before going to hell, she was an immoral defense attorney who helped the worst of the worst out of legal problems; after the return, she becomes determined to seek redemption, joining the district attorney's office so she can prosecute the very people she used to defend.

The one thing that unites both versions of Charlotte is her stubborn commitment to getting her job done and ensuring her side wins in any court case she takes on. It's this trait that makes her a good example of a Taurus. Those born between April 20 and May 20 like the finer things in life, which may have been what initially led Charlotte to pursue her career as a defense attorney. But once she realizes the error of her ways, she applies her hardworking and resourceful nature to bringing down criminals with the D.A., and ensuring she can have a good afterlife. Like the bull that symbolizes Taurus, she jumps into her new role with so much determination and commitment that even though her final death happens shortly afterwards, she's already earned her place in heaven.

Gemini: Ella Lopez

Smart, sociable forensic scientist Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) is the very picture of a Gemini. Those born between May 21 and June 20 are curious, playful, and intelligent, all traits that Ella has in spades. While Ella might be mistaken for silly or flighty due to her bubbly personality, in reality Ella has a nimble mind and a love for problem solving that makes her remarkably good at her job. In fact, she's so astute that she's the only person on "Lucifer" who realizes she's surrounded by celestials without being told about their existence.

Even though she takes her job seriously and is determined to help the team catch the killers they investigate, she's quick to make a joke and loves to have fun. She exemplifies the Gemini's ability to shape-shift depending on the context they find themselves in. Ella can adapt to any environment, and throughout the series she shows that she's equally at home with Lucifer during a jaunt to Las Vegas, infiltrating a nudist colony, or examining the latest crime scene. It's no wonder, then, that Ella befriends Lucifer, Chloe (Lauren German), and the rest of the characters easily and quickly becomes one of the most beloved members of the team.

Cancer: Daniel Espinoza

LAPD Officer Daniel Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) is Chloe Decker's ex-husband and the father of their daughter Trixie (Scarlett Estevez). While most people would have a hard time working with their ex, Dan and Chloe maintain a friendly, even warm relationship, and have no trouble parenting Trixie together. Part of this is due to Dan's loyal, protective nature, a quality he shares with those born under the sign Cancer. Dan is supportive and giving to the people he loves, and that extends to Chloe even though they're no longer a couple.

Like those whose birthdays fall between June 21 and July 22, Dan can be oversensitive (especially if he's feeling slighted), a trait that often comes out when he's dealing with Lucifer's gleeful teasing. He takes the death of Charlotte Richards particularly hard, even to the extent that he becomes self-pitying and blames Lucifer for the loss. Moreover, when he dies, even though everyone in his life thought he'd go to heaven, he ends up in hell due to the guilt he feels for failing Trixie as a father, another example of his strong desire to nurture and protect his daughter. So deep is this feeling that he initially avoids seeing her when he comes back to Earth as a ghost. Ultimately, when he finally seeks Trixie out, she reassures him he was a fantastic father, and this knowledge helps him finally ascend to heaven.

Leo: Lucifer Morningstar

No zodiac sign fits the title character of "Lucifer" better than Leo, those exuberant, self-assured lions who shine as bright as the limelight they seek out. From the very first scene of the show, it's clear that Lucifer is charming and confident, characteristics that make him intriguingly seductive to everyone who encounters him. Lucifer may be the devil, but he rarely displays any satanic tendencies. While he uses his devil face occasionally, Lucifer's worst traits on a daily basis are being too self-centered and domineering, something that can also be a pitfall for those born between July 23 and August 22.

Yet, it's clear that Lucifer has always had a number of good qualities. While his father's decision to put him in charge of hell could be seen as a punishment, it's also an endorsement of his skills as a strong, motivational leader. Leos tend to be artistically inclined, and Lucifer is no different. With an intense love of music, Lucifer can often be found playing the piano at home or bringing down the house with a musical number at his nightclub Lux.

Underneath all of Lucifer's bravado, however, lies a surprising vulnerability — a trait he shares with those Leos whose outgoing optimism hides a deep insecurity. In Lucifer's case, his underlying uncertainty is rooted in his expulsion from heaven, a reality that means when he loves someone he can be physically hurt around them.

Virgo: Chloe Decker

Chloe Decker comes across as the perfect police detective. Sober and smart, there's nothing that Chloe seems to enjoy more than putting the disparate pieces of her latest case together. Even after she leaves her job on the LAPD in Season 6, Chloe still manages to enmesh herself in police investigations, often outshining those who are actually getting paid to do the work. Chloe's natural talent for observation and analysis are typical of the sign of Virgo. Those born between August 23 and September 23 are diligent, patient workers who will stick with a task until it is done. These qualities serve Chloe well in her work and in her relationship with Lucifer, where she exhibits a great deal of understanding and patience.

While Chloe can become a bit obsessed with her job, that's only because she takes her quest to get justice for the victims of her cases seriously. She knows she's helping people and she doesn't have time for careless behavior that could impede her investigations. Virgos are often modest and sincere and Chloe has a similar attitude, which is why her actions often speak louder than her words.

Libra: Linda Martin

Psychologist Linda Martin (Rachael Harris) helps Lucifer with his daddy issues on and off throughout all six seasons of the show. While the job isn't easy, she eventually empowers him to confront his problems and learn to be a better devil. Linda is able to counsel Lucifer despite his less-than-human background, thousands of years of baggage, and tendency to draw the wrong conclusions from her advice; all due to her talents for seeing life from her clients' point of view and her calm, balanced presence, characteristics she shares with the zodiac sign Libra. Those born between September 23 and October 22 are talented listeners and communicators, and Linda exemplifies those capabilities in her work as a therapist. Lucifer is a testament to her gift for assisting people with their mental health issues — after all, not just anyone could successfully help the devil.

Linda brings insight and intelligence to all her interpersonal interactions, including her friendships with Maze and Chloe, who she easily bonds and becomes friends with during the series. However, like many Virgos, Linda can also be a bit too self-sacrificing. This is especially evident in her relationship with Amenadiel. Even though the couple is clearly happy and compatible, Linda ultimately decides to break up with Amenadiel due to Maze's loud objections to her friend being with her ex.

Scorpio: Rory

Rory (Brianna Hildebrand) doesn't appear until the final season of "Lucifer," but her introduction is transformational. Rory is initially presented as an angel who bears a long-standing grudge against the devil. It isn't until she confronts him that we learn why she's so angry: Lucifer is her father and Rory is furious that he's been absent her whole life; so furious, in fact, she wants to kill him. Rory's quest for vengeance is just one of many things that make her an excellent example of a Scorpio. Scorpions tend to sting when they feel betrayed — or in Rory's case, use her blood red wings full of blades to lash out in deadly fashion. They are also extremely slow to forgive, a characteristic Rory demonstrates in her initial interactions with Lucifer. Yet, Rory soon shows that beneath her tough exterior, she's remarkably sensitive and her desire to hurt her father is as much a product of her pain as her anger.

Those born between October 23 and November 21 are also slow to trust, and Rory demonstrates the same tendency in her relationship with Lucifer. Although she's intensely loyal to her mother and the other people she loves, she has a hard time believing in Lucifer's good intentions towards her. When he shows her just how much he loves her, however, Rory becomes as devoted to him as she is to the rest of her family.

Sagittarius: God

Explaining the personality of the creator of all things, through astrology or any other means, isn't something that's often undertaken. But God has a prominent role in the final season of "Lucifer," and looms large over the lives of Lucifer and many of the other characters even when He's not seen or heard from. As a result, some of the most noteworthy traits of the show's vision of God shine through, and many of them align with those who were born under the sign Sagittarius. People whose birthdays fall between November 22 and December 21 are the optimistic explorers of the zodiac and that's a good description for God, whose basic faith in the goodness of everyone and adventurous spirit led Him to create the world.

Of course, as Lucifer can attest, God wasn't always the most successful parent. Sagittarius parents are open-minded and try not to give their kids too many boundaries, and it seems God was the same, letting His children — as well as the people of Earth — make their own choices. Unfortunately, God was so hands-off he didn't come across as supportive either, and when Lucifer rebels He loses his temper in a spectacular manner — resulting in events that are especially devastating for Lucifer.

Capricorn: Amenadiel

For millennia, first-born angel Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) was God's most trusted enforcer. Amenadiel was diligent and responsible in carrying out God's will, and his perseverance made him one of the most admired angels in heaven. This dedication to his role exemplifies the characteristics that are also key to the sign of Capricorn, and like many sea-goats, Amenadiel was so hard-working, he was a bit of a workaholic. Of course, Amenadiel's persistence in making sure Lucifer stayed in hell as his father desired is also what put him and Lucifer at odds during the first season of "Lucifer."

However, Amenadiel's patience with Lucifer and his ability to learn from his past mistakes enables both him and his relationship with Lucifer to evolve. Once he is solidly in Lucifer's corner, he shares the tendency of those born between December 21 and January 20 to be caring and loyal, helping out whenever his brother needs him.

After his father retires, Amenadiel's clear-eyed view of the world and steady dependability eventually lead him to become the new God, a role that he seems tailor-made for. His approach even seems to gain the approval of his often squabbling brother and sister angels.

Aquarius: Trixie Espinoza

Chloe and Dan's daughter Trixie is just seven years old during the first season of "Lucifer," but she frequently shows that she's wise beyond her years. Throughout the series, Trixie demonstrates her unique, often eccentric view of life, a perspective that is also reflected in the sign of the Water-Bearer, Aquarius. Those born between January 21 and February 18 are clever, original thinkers, and Trixie is as well. Not only does she aspire to be the first President of Mars, she quickly takes a liking to Lucifer, finding him hilarious despite his clearly ambivalent feelings toward her. Trixie seems perfectly happy marching to the beat of her own drum, and never seems too worried about fitting in.

Moreover, Trixie's innovative, analytical mind enables her to understand the realities of many situations. She demonstrates a savvy understanding of the risks of her mother's job as an LAPD detective, and confesses that even though she worries about her Chloe, she hides it so her mother doesn't have one more thing to be concerned about. Plus, when Dan comes to her as a ghost to apologize for failing to be a good role model to her, Trixie corrects him, once again stating her logical but unexpected opinion that Dan was a great father. Unbeknownst to Trixie, it is her reassurance that finally allows Dan to get over his guilt and ascend to heaven.

Pisces: Eve

Those born under Pisces, the final sign of the zodiac, are said to be old souls — and there is literally no woman with an older soul than the world's first woman, Eve. Of course, Eve exemplifies Pisces in far more ways than this one. Pisces are sympathetic, intuitive, and compassionate, and Eve exemplifies all those qualities. Even when she's met with suspicion when she first appears in the fourth season of "Lucifer," her natural empathy enables her to quickly endear herself to Lucifer's inner circle.

Like those whose birthdays are between February 20 and March 20, Eve is often self-sacrificing in relationships and even co-dependent, something that causes her to stay with Adam for thousands of years before finally coming to Earth and seeking out Lucifer. She exhibits a similar pattern with him, which eventually leads her to realize she needs to take some time away, so she can learn to stand on her own two feet. When she returns and starts a romance with Maze, she's still emotional, sensitive, and charming — but she's also stronger and more centered, enabling both her and Maze to finally have the relationship they deserve.
