The Eternals Character You Are Based On Your Zodiac Sign

Astrology may not be recognized as a science as it once was centuries ago, but its continuing popularity points to how concisely and cleverly it creates personality profiles. Astrology posits that the position of the stars at the time of one's birth has a profound, permanent impact on your life, how you view the world, and how you interact with others. While it is sufficiently vague at times that trying to draw predictions from it isn't always fruitful, the zodiac has proven to be a powerful tool for self-evaluation and introspection at the very least.

In Marvel comics, and now in their own film, the Eternals are an offshoot of humanity that was directly influenced by forces from beyond the stars. The so-called Space Gods known as the Celestials visited Earth millennia ago and did genetic experiments on one of humanity's evolutionary ancestors. The Eternals were the result of one of these experiments. They're practically immortal, extremely difficult to kill, and possessed of remarkable powers. However, like their human cousins, every Eternal has their own quirks and individual personality traits. Some are leaders, some are thinkers, and some of them love to party. The same is true for their other evolutionary cousins, the Deviants. Cursed with genetic instability, Deviants dared to defy the Celestial millennia ago and paid the price. With "The Eternals" entering into the MCU, there's no time like the present to get familiar with the strange, alien team.

Let's take a look at what Eternal or Deviant you are most like based on their adventures in the comics, determined by your own zodiac sign.

Aries is bold Gilgamesh

For those born under the sign of Aries (March 21st – April 19th), you are most like the Eternal Gilgamesh. This fire sign is sometimes known as the Warrior, just like Gilgamesh, the leader and fighter who has had many names throughout his life. Unlike most Eternals, who tended to keep to themselves unless they were fighting Deviants, Gilgamesh freely mixed with humans, killing monsters and ruling kingdoms. He was the Gilgamesh of legend, the monster-slaying Mesopotamian king of Uruk. He was sometimes mistaken for Hercules and even performed a few of the Greek demigod's famous labors. Somewhere along the way, Gilgamesh had forgotten that he was an Eternal, but that didn't stop him from being a strong, but sometimes headstrong leader, boldly taking on new challenges like an Aries does.

Gilgamesh was eventually reminded of his heritage and the leader of the Eternals, the great Zuras, confined him in Olympia, where he became forgotten. When the Deviants attacked the Fourth Celestial Host, the Eternal Sprite freed the now-Forgotten One and sent him off into space. Never one to back down from a challenge, Gilgamesh destroyed a bomb the Deviants sent into space and was taken in by the Celestials themselves. He delivered a stern message of non-interference to the Eternals and Thor, and his fiery temper led him to a fight with the Thunder God. Aries are stubborn, and once they are convinced they are correct, it's hard to convince them otherwise.

Taurus is the sensation-seeking Sprite

If you were born between April 20th and May 20th, that makes you the Earth sign Taurus. It also makes you the Eternal named Sprite. Despite being extremely old, Sprite was designed by the Celestials to appear perpetually like a child. As a result, the stubborn Sprite could never be dissuaded from constantly pulling pranks on Eternals and humans alike. He (and later she, in a later resurrection) was also the inspiration for tricksters like Puck and the boy who never grew up in Peter Pan

However, being fully mature but living in a child's body wore on Sprite, who wanted to experience everything an adult experienced. Taurus is sometimes known as "the Sensualist," loving earthly pleasures. Sprite was so desperate to experience these pleasures that he tapped into the power of the Dreaming Celestial, a godlike being imprisoned underground by his fellow Celestials for daring to defy them. Sprite used that power to make all of the Eternals on Earth forget who they were and give them human identities. Sprite himself gave up his immortality in order to become human, although he also turned himself into a child star with a TV show called "That's So Sprite." It took him decades to enact his plan, befitting a Taurus who moves slowly but resolutely. Of course, Sprite made himself a star because he wanted to enjoy a luxury lifestyle as a human teenager, once again making perfect sense for the sign that loves creature comforts.

Party-loving Sersi is a Gemini

The sign of Gemini (May 21st – June 20th) is funny, flirty, and flighty. No wonder it's sometimes referred to as "the Communicator." This is a sign that loves a good party but is also clever and shows an intellectual side. They've never met a stranger and know how to draw out virtually anyone. Which Eternal does this sign match up with? Who else could it be but the supreme party hostess herself, Sersi.

Sersi was another Eternal who wasn't interested in the boring routine of life in Olympia, their ancestral home. Instead, she preferred to live with humans, appearing in a number of forms, including the Circe who bewitched Odysseus, turning his crew into pigs. In modern times, Sersi became a socialite who threw lavish soirees in her Manhattan apartment. She delighted in drawing out quiet people and learning what made them tick. Her first encounter with the Avengers came at a party that she threw that Starfox crashed. At the party, she enjoyed flirting with Captain America because he was awkward, and she accepted his invitation to join the team after Gilgamesh was badly injured.

Geminis are represented by the Twins, often reflecting a dual nature. For Sersi, that played out when she went through some troubling experiences with the Avengers that warped her personality and turned her into a dark, brooding figure. Gone was the happy-go-lucky partier, though she eventually regained that persona when her memory was wiped

Ajak is a caring Cancer

Those born between June 21st and July 22nd are born under the sign of Cancer. Referred to as "the Nurturer," this sensitive and caring water sign is loyal to a fault, but a slave to routine. While Cancers are self-sacrificing and work for the benefit of others, they are also not to be trifled with. If you cross a Cancer, they will not forget. Ajak, the communicator with the Celestials, is the best match for Cancers.

Ajak has a powerful sense of nobility that inspired worship among many humans, especially in the Latin American Aztec and Inca civilizations.  Ajak communicated with the other Eternals on behalf of the Third Celestial Host that arrived on Earth, a role that he greatly relished. In fact, he stored himself at a condensed atomic level until the Fourth Host arrived. He once again acted as the liaison between the Celestials and other Eternals, telling them not to interfere in the Celestials' final judgment of humanity.

His role fulfilled, Ajak drifted and was manipulated into becoming a monster and killing humans. He committed suicide as a result, but was revived, only to once again be manipulated into helping Sprite use the power of the Dreaming Celestial. When the Celestial awakened and chose Makkari to speak through, Ajak felt his one purpose in life had been taken away and tried to kill Makkari. Ajak was later killed again, only to be resurrected in female form. Just like a Cancer, Ajak felt loyal to his purpose and did everything to see it through.

Kingo the star is a Leo

Attention-seeking Leos are born between July 22nd and August 23rd. This fire sign is sometimes known as "the Creative," and many performing artists tend to be Leos. The Lion is the king of their stage, demanding the spotlight and having the talent to get it. Above all else, Leos are entertainers. However, Leos also put a great deal of hard work and passion into their performances. They are masters of their craft, or at least aspire to be.

Kingo Sunen is the Eternal who best suits the sign of Leo. An expert swordsman and warrior, he spent years honing his craft in Japan as he studied the methods and code of the samurai. Kingo was one of many Eternals who loved living among humans, and he parlayed his skills into a successful career as an actor, mostly portraying samurai. When Ikaris' human friend Margo Damian met him, she was astonished because of his fame as an actor. Later in his career, the parts weren't quite as good, like his samurai role in "Revenge Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Vampires." He did say that it had "redeeming facets." Kingo even took Ransak the Reject, a Deviant warrior, under his wing as a fighter and actor, trying to pass on his craft. Of course, for all of Kingo's samurai cool, he was still very much a showman.

Kro is a Virgo

Virgos are born between August 23rd and September 22nd, and they are known for the twin urges of being both empathetic and highly practical. Sometimes known as "the Healer" or "the Analyst," they have a strong tendency to be highly judgmental, extremely discerning, and ruthlessly efficient. Of course, all of this is done because they are also caring and believe they know what's best for everyone. Virgos are the problem-solvers of the zodiac.

Warlord Kro is a Deviant, not an Eternal. However, he has more in common with the Eternals than his own people. His particular ability is his immortality, something that makes him much like his long-time love, Thena of the Eternals. Kro has to hide this ability from his people, and his long life made him extremely patient with regard to taking power. Make no mistake, however. He has always believed that his ultimate destiny was to rule the Deviants, and he had the best interests of his people in mind. While he often fought against both Eternals and humans, it was always a matter of circumstance. Either he was defending Deviant turf or was forced to obey the commands of the ruling class

Kro liberated the Deviants from the nearly-disastrous rule of the priest Lord Ghaur. Later, he thought he could solve the Deviants' crisis where all males had become sterile by using a powerful artifact. While it backfired, he wound up ruling and helping the Deviants as a result. Just like a Virgo, Kro found that he was most comfortable in charge.

Libra is the diplomatic Phastos

Libras tend to seek out the balance, which makes sense, since this air sign is represented by the scales. Born between September and October 22nd, Libras are all about relationships but hate conflict. Referred to as "the Diplomat" or "the Lover," Libras are romantic and seek harmony, but they can have trouble making decisions. They have a great sense of style and are often artists, but not in an attention-seeking way. They are good at mediating conflicts, seeing every side in an argument, and usually avoid extreme decisions.

For the Eternals, Phastos is the best match for Libra. He's the weapon-smith of the Eternals and their technology expert, having built their resurrection chambers. While a capable fighter, Phastos doesn't enjoy violcence and often seeks another way. Whenever Ikaris tried to recruit him for one war or another, he was rarely interested. He refused to cause suffering to the Earth like the Eternals and Deviants had done so many times before. He willingly stayed in Lemuria to help the Deviants with their devastating problem when all of their males became sterile, both as a way to defuse a potential war between the Eternals and the Deviants but also because he genuinely wanted to put his knowledge to good use. Later, with a Libra's sense of fairness, he sabotaged the resurrection machines when he learned their use killed humans.

Cunning Druig is a Scorpio

One description of Scorpios is that their "primary emotion is betrayal." Those born between October 23rd and November 22nd fall under the darkest, most enigmatic sign of the zodiac. This water sign is sometimes known as "the Alchemist," and they are all about secrecy, transformation, and hidden knowledge. They are also powerfully charismatic leaders because of their intensity and personal magnetism, and their ambition often puts them in positions of authority.

No Eternal fits this description better than the scheming Druig, cousin of Ikaris. A telepath, he also possesses the power of illusion. He unwittingly unleashed the monster Dromedan in order to try to gain its power, only to see it kill Ikaris' father. When the Fourth Celestial Host arrived, Druig was happily torturing people as part of the KGB in the Soviet Union. Druig learned of a weapon that had slain a Celestial, and he was determined to use it on the Celestial named Ziran the Tester, who had wandered into the USSR. He was willing to betray the Eternals and the humans in his quest for total power, but Ikaris managed to disintegrate him.

Druig's essence was recovered by the Celestials and he was resurrected, becoming a government functionary in Vorozheika. Thanks to Sprite, he couldn't remember his past life as an Eternal. Druig helped stop the Dreaming Celestial, but he became ruler of his country and betrayed the Eternals again in a bid for power. It was his Scorpio nature, after all.

Honorary Eternal Karkas is a Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the sign falling between November 22nd and December 21st, and it's one of the most sensitive of all the signs. Known as "the Philosopher," Sagittarians love learning for its own sake and sharing that knowledge with others. They are not so much interested in winning arguments as they are shedding light on a subject in a friendly manner. They are sometimes a little too blunt, but that's partly because they want everyone to be their best selves. There's no malice in their comments. Meeting new people and having new experiences bring them happiness.

At first blush, Karkas may seem like an odd choice to represent Sagittarius. He is a Deviant, and moreover, he's a Mutate, the Deviant term for someone whose mutation is so outside the norm that they don't fit in with Deviant society. Karkas was born in a hulking, horrifying form, and the only reason he survived was that he was so strong that he was chosen to be part of the gladiatorial games. While overwhelmingly powerful, he never liked fighting very much, doing the bare minimum to win his fights and nothing else. Karkas was born a sensitive soul, yearning to be free so he could explore the life of the mind. When Thena freed him and his friend Ransak the Reject, he requested asylum in Olympia. Karkas quickly took to the enlightened, peaceful atmosphere as he stayed in Olympia for a long time and was fiercely loyal to Thena

Bold Thena is a Capricorn

While many members of the zodiac have leadership qualities, only those born under the sign of Capricorn (December 22nd – January 19th) are referred to as "the Leader."  Capricorns are patient, hard workers who are frequently mature beyond their years. They believe in duty above all else and thus make for responsible (if sometimes stubborn) leaders. The price they pay is sometimes repressing emotions and seeming a bit cold on the surface.

All of this describes Thena with great accuracy. The greatest of the Eternals' warriors, she was constantly at the side of Zuras, the leader of the Eternals. As such, her take-no-prisoners attitude and confidence made her a natural choice to succeed Zuras as prime Eternal when he died. She sprung into action against the Deviants when they invaded New York, bossing around Makkari as she took out her foes. Thena only let herself become vulnerable with Kro, but her sense of responsibility was such that when she became pregnant, she transferred her future children into a human woman. She quietly kept tabs on her secret children, only revealing herself to them when their lives were in danger.

Noble Ikaris is an Aquarius

Aquarius is the zodiac sign for those born between January 19th and February 18th. It's one of the more individualistic of the signs, even if they care deeply about others. That's why they're known as "the Humanitarian," thinking about the needs of society in general ahead of any particular individuals. They're independent and individualistic in their approach and aren't great team players. They have their own ways of doing things but are remarkably selfless and caring.

Ikaris is a Polar Eternal, a slightly more reserved grouping of Eternal. As such, he never quite fit in with Olympian Eternals like Makkari and Thena. However, he was still intensely loyal not only to his fellow Eternals, but to humanity as a whole. He was there after the Great Cataclysm, helping guide humanity to a mountain after the flood. He was there helping Dr. Daniel Damien learn about the Fourth Celestial host, even as he revived Ajak. He rushed into action to save New York when Kro and the Deviants attacked it. He remained on Earth to protect it when most of the other Eternals left for outer space. Ikaris often butted heads with other Eternals, especially Thena, but he always cared about them all, even if his way lacked any subtlety or nuance.

Sensitive Makkari is a Pisces

The last sign of the zodiac is Pisces, born between February 18th and March 20th. They are known to possess traits from many of the other signs of the zodiac, but their primary designation is that of "the Dreamer." Highly intuitive, Pisces sometimes seek escapism and fantasy. At the same time, they are willing to be self-sacrificing for others. Their generosity knows no bounds and they are always seeking out deep and meaningful friendships. They are fun and friendly but sometimes have trouble establishing (or respecting) boundaries

The speedster Makkari is the best match for Pisces. He's been getting his hands dirty to help humanity for millennia, be it teaching the Egyptians how to write in the guise of Thoth or battling Kro in the guise of the superhero the Hurricane. He went right along with Thena when she defended New York from a Deviant attack. Later, he developed a close friendship with Quasar. His dream of being the fastest being in the universe led him to duel the Elder of the Universe called the Runner, the master of speed. He eventually came to speak for the Dreaming Celestial, a task that made him sacrifice too much. Even after his death and eventual rebirth in female form, he still longed to hear the voice of the Dreaming Celestial. Once a dreamer, always a dreamer.
