RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 7 - What We Know So Far

After five seasons which aired across several cable platforms, including LogoTV, "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" made the successful leap from television hit to streaming success for its sixth season. The show became a Paramount+ exclusive for the first time in 2021, a move that proved to be controversial both with the show's previous queens (via Bustle), who often rely on income from viewing parties of the show held at bars, and fans who weren't willing to pony up an extra $10 to $15 every month for another streamer.

The competition show, which is a spin-off of "RuPaul's Drag Race," features memorable or beloved drag queens from previous seasons vying one more time for the crown. They compete in team challenges, runway presentations, and lip-sync battles to determine who will be the winner. The victor is enshrined in the Drag Race Hall of Fame and wins a cash prize of $100,0000.

With the show's sixth season already in the books, fans are waiting to hear any news about its seventh go-round. When will "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" Season 7 air, who will star in it, and what sorts of challenges will the queens face? Here's what we know so far.

When will RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 7 air?

As of press time, the show's seventh season has not yet been greenlit, though there is rampant speculation that it is currently filming (see below). Without an official announcement from Paramount+ or production company World of Wonder as to its status, we'll have to speculate about when — and if — Season 7 will be made available.

VH1 renewed "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" on August 20, 2020 (per TV Line). Its first episode was uploaded to Paramount+ on June 22, 2021. That means it took just under a year to produce a fresh season of the show. Should "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" be picked up by Paramount+ for Season 7 tomorrow, that means viewers wouldn't see the seventh season until the early fall or late summer of 2022, at the very earliest. It's a long time to wait, but Mama Ru will surely make it worth fans' while.

Who will appear in RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 7?

The rumored theme for "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" seventh season, via the subreddit r/AllSpoiledDragRace, is "All Winners." It will allegedly feature winners from the previous seasons competing for the crown once more. Fans on the subreddit tracked the social media of queens who won their seasons and noted who went radio silent over the show's alleged filming period, which was rumored to have started in late June, and drew this conclusion collectively.

According to the above thread, Jaida Essence Hall, Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Raja, Shea Couleé, Trinity the Tuck, The Vivienne (who won the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK) and Yvie Oddly are all likely candidates for Season 7 of All Stars. But all of this, naturally, is nothing but rampant speculation at the moment. Paramount+ hasn't even renewed "Drag Race All Stars" for a seventh season on the platform. So let's just call these casting notes harmless (but well researched) speculation for the moment.

Naturally, RuPaul would be back to emcee and judge the seventh season, with regular panel members Michelle Visage, Ross Mathews, and Carson Kressley all likely to return to the judge's table as well. You should expect an array of entertaining guest judges too.

What sort of challenges will we see on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 7?

As of press time, none of the season's challenges have been announced yet. We can, however, take a look at what past outings offered in the way of weekly challenges and speculate about what we might see in Season 7.

Thus far, each season of "Drag Race All Stars" has traditionally featured a group singing challenge; a "Rusical" where the queens must take part in a musical centered around a popular entertainer, a moment in pop culture "herstory," or RuPaul's life; and a commercial-related challenge. Another signature game on every season of both "Drag Race" and "Drag Race All-Stars" is "The Snatch Game," which features the queens doing celebrity impersonations while playing a version of the hit '70's game show "The Match Game."

It's guaranteed that the queens will have to construct a fresh runway look every week tailored toward a dedicated theme. Over time, the show has spotlighted a wide variety of categories, from classic drag ball looks to asking the queens to dress themselves up as walking, singing ships. The unluckiest two queens will be asked to "lip sync for their legacy" for a final chance to please RuPaul and stay in the game. Expect some twists and turns to be applied to this special season of All Stars, should the show be renewed and rumors about the cast prove to be true.
