When Hope Calls Season 2 Release Date, Cast And Plot - What We Know So Far

It's been about two years since we've caught up with the people of the town Brookfield, but fans of the "When Calls the Heart" spinoff series "When Hope Calls" don't have to wait much longer for new content. Grab your blankets and hot chocolate because the beloved series is set to premiere during the holiday season with a two-part premiere titled "When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas."

Season 1 of "When Hope Calls" brought along plenty of small-town drama, including bank robberies, fires, fraud, and new visitors. The last time we saw main characters Lillian (Morgan Kohan) and Grace (Jocelyn Hudon), they were confronting potential danger in Brookfield from criminals targeting the innocent (via Hallmark). Since the upcoming season premieres during the holidays, the subject matter is sure to be much more cheerful than Season 1, especially with the title "When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas."

Here's everything we know so far about Season 2 of "When Hope Calls," so you can be up to speed before it premieres.

When is the release date for When Hope Calls Season 2?

Season 2 of "When Hope Calls" will premiere in two parts on December 18. The show will not be on the Hallmark Channel as it was last season, with competitor GAC Family picking it up for the new installment. Don't fret if you don't have cable, though, because luckily, GAC Family is available to stream on Hulu, FuboTV, Philo, and ZVision Media Player, according to a GAC Family Instagram post. Thankfully, fans don't have long to wait for the second part of the premiere, as it will be following immediately after the first part's release. So grab your closest friends and family and gather around the fire and prepare for a long evening with the people of Brookfield.

If you're someone who gets into the holiday spirit as soon as November hits, GAC Family also has plenty of Christmas-themed movies slated to release as soon as October 30 to hold you over until the premiere of "When Hope Calls" (via Instagram).

Who stars in When Hope Calls Season 2?

Fans can expect to see some familiar faces, as well as some cast members from "When Calls the Heart" in the next season of "When Hope Calls." Star of the series, Morgan Kohan, will be reprising her role as Lillian Walsh, and RJ Hatanaka will also return as Gabriel Kinslow, Deadline reports.

In bigger news, Lori Laughlin is set to make her acting return after the college admissions scandal by reprising her "When Calls the Heart" role as fan-favorite Abigail Stanton. The actress gained nationwide attention for the 2019 scandal and had to serve a two-month sentence, but was able to make the filming for "When Hope Calls" during her probation.

Also joining Laughlin will be her former "When Calls the Heart" costar Daniel Lissing, but his role in the spinoff series is unclear at the moment, per Deadline. Additionally, the cast will include Carter Ryan playing Abigail's son Cody, and newcomer Luxton Handspiker also joins the mix (via IMDb).

What is the plot of Season 2 of When Hope Calls?

According to a press release provided to Deadline, Part 1 of the Season 2 premiere of "When Hope Calls" will highlight Brookfield as it "hosts a Christmas festival as one of three contenders in Harper's Bazaar's search for America's #1 Country Christmas Town." While the town prepares for the festival, Abigail Stanton and her son, Cody, arrive in Brookfield, in tow with a troubled young boy they bring to Lillian's orphanage.

Meanwhile, Lillian, Gabriel, and the orphans try desperately to raise the hopes of the troubled boy in time for Christmas Eve. Of course, it wouldn't be a Christmas special without a bit of holiday magic. Luckily for the people of Brookfield, "a secret Santa appears to fulfill all holiday wishes," and we'll see "Abigail [have] a profound conversation with a dear friend from the past."

Make sure to tune in to GAC Family on Saturday, December 18, to witness all of the Christmas magic in the Season 2 premiere of "When Hope Calls."
